Lake Tahoe Skiing- suggestions needed

Have a great trip!

Should be some snow for you!

Can’t remember whether you are staying in N or S Tahoe. There is a great deal for cross country skiing through Travel Zoo. Go to Local Deals, then Reno/Tahoe.

YAY!! Thanks, can’t wait!

Sidebar to ydnar…

My D called now from Truckee. I told her that I “met” a parent of a freshmen girl on the team she coaches but she has no idea which girl I mean as she said there are a number of freshmen. She was letting me know that she may not arrive at Mammoth until midnight her time (she was to call when she arrived) because some of the team that she is taking in her car to Mammoth are in a car from your D’s school that is stuck in traffic to Truckee and some of those kids are staying in Truckee (Tahoe) for the weekend. Maybe one of them is your D. :D

Lunch break looking out over the lake sitting under the cable car. Absolutely gorgeous day.

Had dinner in truckee Monday night. Cute cafe. It’s a glorious day in healdsburg and the food and wine have been divine. Thank you to everyone who suggested it.

Skiing was great. I didn’t ski the last day thanks to an aching knee and that day was icy, according to my DH.

so glad you ended up in Healdsburg! Can’t wait to hear where you ate and drank!

Which resort(s) did you end up skiing at? I’m assuming that you might have gone to Heavenly if you were under a cable car looking at the lake.

We had awesome weather near SF today, so Healdsburg must have been fabulous! Looking forward to the hotel and restaurant reviews, jym!

Skiied at Squaw, gladgraddad. The last day was very icy, according to my DH. I didnt ski that day as my knee has been complaining loudly.

Dinners were fabulous. Will give a longer report in the morning. They were obscenely expensive and not something we normally ever do, but was worth the splurge, Now back to reality…

Gladgraddad- officially we were sitting under the funitel. What kind of silly name is that?

It sounds like you had a great time - I enjoyed it vicariously through your posts.

Hope you have a fun weekend in SF - it’s been very warm here.

We’re thinking of driving to Kirkwood for a day of skiing on Saturday. The webcam shows snow there but hard to tell how icy it is.

vballmom,
They announced that Vail bought Kirkwood the other day, so effective immediately, if you have tickets/passes to Heavenly or Northstar they will work at Kirkwood.

We just spent 3 days skiing at Mammoth. The snow was surprisingly good except on the East side which gets more sun. It was fun to see all the “ski week” kids

here is how the name “funitel” came from

[Doppelmayr Garaventa Group - Surface and Aerial Ropeways, Funicular Railways, Urban Transit Systems, Elevators, Mechanical Garaging Systems and Stacker Cranes for high rise warehouses,Funitel](http://www.doppelmayr.com/en/doppelmayr-international/products/funitel.html)

Cable car is so much easier to say!

Off for one more glorious day in Sonoma before heading in for dinner in SFO tonight.

Did you wave passing Nutree?

Son coming hone from SoCal today. Yay! We will probably do a resto in Napa this weekend. Maybe Mustards.

Yes I waved vigorously! We are currently on 101 heading back towards SF. What glorious weather!

Shrinkrap…I’ve only been to Napa once…but we ate at Brix and it was the BEST meal I’ve ever had in my life (we were there for Sunday brunch).
