<p>Most universities suggest to take at least 2 years of the same foreign language. </p>
<p>It increases your chances to get accepted. But I don’t think it’s “necessary”.</p>
<p>It is at some schools (UCs have a 2 year requirement). </p>
<p>But if you are looking at top colleges, you almost certainly need 3-4 years.</p>
