Language requirement-Switch from French to Italian?

A language is required for me to graduate. I completed French 1 about a year ago and I signed up for French 2. I am contemplating switching to Italian because I have a friend from Italy, who is also my gym partner, so I see him a lot. Even though, I completed French 1 and i would have to start over I thought it would be a good idea because I am exposed to Italian, where as I don’t know anyone who speaks French. Do you think it is worth ditching what I learned in French and starting over again in an introductory class?

Will it impact your schedule severely?

If not, I think it’s fine to study what interests you. In bocca al lupo!

It won’t really impact my schedule. It is the same day and time as the French class. The only impact is, instead of getting my 6 credits in language, I will be going back to 3 credits because having passed two intro language classes doesn’t count the same as passing an intro and intermediate of the same language.
