Last Minute gift shopping

Anyone else??

Tomorrow, I’m going to a bunch of places hoping to find a Google Home for DH.

DH hasn’t started his shopping… up that’s a whole other thread!

My husband was proud to say he started his shopping last year on Christmas Eve, as the stores were starting to close. I am buying very little this year, I’m really not into it at all!

Just a couple of gift cards left - and groceries for the food I need to make! Luckily I get all of that at the grocery store now that they stock so many gift cards!

@thumper1 Can you buy online? Or reserve at Best Buy so it is waiting for you when you get there?

Can you tell I hate shopping brick and mortar?

I am not a fan of shopping and crowds. I do not want to see a store till after the holidays.

Just a few quick stops on my morning walk tomorrow: the Credit Union for cash, the Church for a Mass Card for a deceased elder, Grocery for pasta for Saturday’s dinner, and, if I get to it, someplace for lottery tickets for stockings.

My afternoon chore: get DD and DSIL from the airport!!!.
Family dinner with all 3 of my kids and 2 of 3 SOs in the evening-that’s my real Christmas; hopefully DDIL can join us for a nightcap after she is done with work.

Yup, just stacked up the piles got both kids, and decided D2 needs something else to even out the piles. Going to find her new earbuds tomorrow morning.

I was done. I AM done. But I got a frantic text from DD that she couldn’t find suitable christmas-themed pajamas for a show in which she is performing TOMORROW. It’s a huge Christmas show at our state theater. She was working all day and at rehearsal all evening. So I headed out to Kmart, and then to Talbots and Victoria’s Secret. I bought up all the appropriate pj’s and saved the receipts. She just stopped by after rehearsal, and chose the Kmart pair! So now I have to return the rest, and since I think it’s kind of crummy to return Christmas pj’s on Monday, since other folks may be looking for her size, I’ll return them tomorrow morning.

This shopping experience turned out to be so much fun. The folks ahead of me at KMart passed their 5% discount coupon on to me. A lot of rueful grandparents regretting being late, but glowing about the grandkids.

Well, went to the mall where my dentist is this morning–slightly crowded parking lot but found a space right away. The grocery store was more crowded this evening but still manageable–we got our items and out in a reasonable amount of time. S has appt with dentist in same mall tomorrow morning–I may go with him. At least it’s in the morning, so I think it will be ok. May hunt for some nice yoga pants for D. She only has jeans, shorts and PJs, so was grousing tonite about it. S and I were a bit surprised.

Yep, I’ll be hitting the mall. Just got an email tonight at 10 p.m. from Old Navy. They are apparently now unable to ship my order so that it arrives by 12/23 as promised two weeks ago. They hope to have it to me within the next 30 days…

Yup forgot to get my sister something. I know what I’m getting her, I just forgot to get it.

Also forgot to get a stocking for Mr R. Again. For the 6th Christmas in a row.

And since we’re at it, we should probably get one for my sister’s fiance. Though admittedly, there’s probably less than a 50/50 shot he’ll be with our family again next Christmas. We should probably at least pretend that we think they’ll actually go through with the marriage. (Oh, I should also mention that Christmas will be the first time I meet him… even though they live less than an hour away.)

Haha, @romanigypsyeyes ! We got a stocking for D’s BF, and he does seem like the one, but my husband joked that we should just masking tape his name on it, to be ready for the next guy. Funny but MEAN!

My sister is just not a good person and this guy actually seems nice. So hey, maybe he’ll be good for her.

It was weird for my parents though. They’re not sure how to quite think of the guy since he’ll be their son-in-law but almost the same age as my dad. Whereas Mr R and I are only 2 months apart so we’re definitely still in the “child” category of things lol

It was hard for my folks that H is significantly older than me–the oldest guy I ever dated, but at least younger than my folks. They’ve come to really like him and are glad we’re still going strong after 30 years of marriage.

I thought I was done but tonite D wanted to wear pj bottoms to her cousins’ house because they lay around playing board games for hours and she only has shorts and jeans and pj bottoms. We got her NSpT to wear the pj bottoms because one of her cousins is bringing friends her age that attended HS with her.

I just went to Ross and bought her several pairs of bottoms suitable for lounging for her Christmas gift & we will see which ones she likes and fits. Of course lines were long, but I was NOT stressed since I had only these few things I just decided to get.

Ordered slippers for H at 4 pm today from Zappos. Just checked and they will be here
tomorrow by 5 pm. Gotta love them.
Other than writing two checks and some wrapping I am finally done.

Going to Walmart for a few things soon. We’ll see how it goes  Also to Home Depot for an above the sink light. H is bored, and I don’t want to nag…but I’ve only asked him to change it for 6 years. He decides today is the day?

I have been done for weeks, just last minute "fill in " stuff. H, OTOH is always last minute then grouses about how crowded the stores are, how he can’t get stuff he orders on line in time, etc. My 16yo D also waits to last minute, had a meltdown when her debit card was declined (money was in savings vs checking), and could not deal with long lines. Never hear how 23 yo S fairs, but he is last minute also. We host brunch for 30 on Xmas day and have 3 other family parties to attend to on the 24 and 25th. I did grocery shopping this morning at 8am and store was mobbed. Packie (liquor store) was mobbed by 10 and wouldn’t you know I forgot one thing for dessert I am making despite a long list. oh well, DD borrowered my car and agreed to pick it up for me. I am exhausted and taking a quick 1/2 hour nap before starting to clean the house. Cheers!

Saw this on FB this morning and thought of this thread.

Oh, I admit to going out to buy a couple of gift boxes from Lush at the local Mall Thursday at 8AM. They have great gift boxes. I had an on and off again family get together this Sat, which has gone on and off so many times I can’t think, due to a last minute death in the family. I only see the two girls I was buying for at this event and didn’t want to buy if it was off. Wouldn’t you know, Lush was wiped clean. No gift boxes, at all. Nothingl I ended up getting them GC to another store. I have to wonder why they even opened.

S needed a suit for a NYE party so we went early this morning. Started at Gentleman’s Warehouse because it’s not in a mall. If he couldn’t find a suit he liked our next stop was L&T (which we went by on the highway and the off ramp to get into that mall was backed up at least a mile.

Fortunately, he found two nice suits at GW (BOGO.) I decided to treat him as part of his Hanukkah/XMAS gift.

Then we went to the market to get stuff for tomorrow night’s dinner and XMAS Day dinner. It was mobbed.

I’m not going back to any store for anything for the rest of the weekend,
