Lawrenceville Chemistry???

Any experience with tackling Lawrenceville Chemistry for a non-science kid?

Go to consultation. Go to peer tutors. Go to upperclassmen who are taking AP chemistry.

And do the homework/pay attention in class of course.

Science and Math tend to move very quickly at strong BS programs because so many of the kids are naturally gifted. We spent 2 years thinking our kid could keep up in math just by doing the homework, going to extra help, and working in study groups with others --let me cut to the chase because, while those things helped a little, but didn’t really get our S to where he wanted to be. And the stress of not really feeling like he fully grasped the material was awful. My advice–get a weekly tutor, whose job it is to make sure that your S gets it. It is often taboo at these schools because they want to think that the faculty are “so available” and capable and that should be enough–but sometimes individual support is the answer. It has reduced so much stress for our S, knowing in the one class he struggles in, he has someone who can work it through with him every Tuesday night.
