I’ve decided that I wanted learn Korean outside of school in addition to the foreign language I’m learning in school (Latin). I’ve already learned Hangul (the Korean alphabet) but I’m having trouble finding time to learn it and finding a native speaker to practice one (my old tutor is Korean but I have no idea how to approach him and ask him to talk to me in Korean lol). I want to become semi-fluent/conversational in ~2 years (im a sophomore now). Has anyone had any luck learning a 3rd language outside of school and any advice on how to ask native speakers at my school/find native speakers to converse with to improve my Korean? Thanks a lot
I’ve studied a lot of languages (hence awesomePOLYGLOT) and imo lunch is the best time for everything. There are websites designed to match learners with speakers and Skype is apparently great. Unilang is your friend. And nice job on Hangul. I’ve tried to learn it but it’s difficult as heck.
Best of luck!
Many Koreans attend with Methodist Church, so maybe you can make a connection at a church. What about Rosetta Stone? My 10th grade daughter is using Rosetta Stone to learn Korean. She has a special headset-microphone to help her. She’s motivated by K-PoP. There are also several Korean apps, so try that. Good Luck.
