Does anyone know anything about serious philosophy - like neo-Platonism and scholasticism and stuff?

If you go to UChicago you’ll learn a lot about that sort of thing.

I most definitely will. Wikipedia articles on the subject are difficult to understand/get through.

Because Wikipedia is often edited by procrastinating grad students…

Wikipedia is my true love. Don’t speak badly about it. D:

lol I am about to post the nerdiest thread in history :]

^ If there’s anyone who would know that it’s the nerdiest thread in history it’d be you…

lol true. Maybe second to that one where I dreamt about my CC idols

^ I don’t remember that one… I do remember the one where you waxed lyrical about AOM though

yeah that one haha

I’m sure people have made nerdier ones. Maybe about WoW or something

WoW is geeky, not nerdy.

But back to the OP, does anyone know any good books in a non-textbook, non-technical style for philosophy n00bs?
Or does this sort of thing not happen with philosophy?

philosophy is never “legit”
that’s why it’s philosophy

I’m not really into pre-Enlightenment philosophy. Really, for me, philosophy begins with Kant, so I’m afraid we don’t really have much to discuss together…

Bertrand Russell

Oh, those postmodernist guys are cool. Foucault ftw.
