ummm… im SOOOOO sure they’re gonna give u “huge lecture for the big subjects” at princeton, since they only have less than 5000 people for the entire undergrad…

so, let's put all the people in the entire freshmen grade in ONE CLASS, give them a big lecture, and see how they DO!!!!!

some state schools, especially publics, have more than 10,000 just for undergrad… i think michigan state has like 25k ish people for under.

15:1 is only because big publics like berkeley is still top 25, and i didnt wanna say 10:1 to exclude it.

… that’s y u dont want to go to a local state university/comm college… cuz it has lots of people that need remedial classes, where as im gonna guess that at least 50% of people in harvard has already taken Calc BC be4 college, and at least 25% of that 50% took it before senior year

Having large classes for some if not most freshmen is a part of life; if you need hand-holding every step of the way, then perhaps one would prefer a extremely small school; but most college students can do without the one-on-one attention the first year I think as upper division classes do thin out.

Also, office hours are available to get to know your prof.

That’s true. That’s a phenomena at the lower end Cal States; high school students are not coming in prepared to universities. However at flagship state-schools for California, Berkeley and UCLA have less remedial classes for students because of the caliber of students.

I had just inder 1200 on SATs but just under (equiv)1300 on ACTs. I submitted both scores and got into Lehigh, Smith, Lafayette, Northeastern, UMd Honors, USC, U Miami, Syracuse, and UDel Honors(which is where I’m going). I also got merit money from most of the schools.

i know tons of people who got into ucsd, ucla, and ucb with scores less than that. it dosn’t matter much for the sat. it matters about everthing: gpa, course rigor, sat 2’s, ex’s, and personal circumstances. so, i wont be worried if i were u.

One good friend of mine at school did not do particularly well on his SATs. However, he got into Boston College. He has a 3.3 uw 3.7 w gpa. His SAT Score was a 900.

SAT Score= 1100 (4th time)
School: Got into William & Mary and the University of Virginia
Attending: UVA
Major: Math and International Relations

well if you look at US news and world report these are the colleges in the top 50 for national universities who have 1200 in their mid 50 percentile of SAT scores:
U. of California- Berkeley
Wake Forest University
U. of North Carolina- Chapel Hill
U. of California- San Diego
U. of California- Davis
U. of California- Santa Barbara
U. of California- Irvine
U. of Texas Austin
U. of Washington
Yeshiva University
Penn State
U. of Florida

so what school has an average class size of 8 students? lets remember student:faculty ratio is NOT the same as average class size. because im pretty sure the average class size at caltech isnt 3.

Notice that most of the schools on that list are public universities; public universities have an obligation to take students from all backgrounds, including lower SAT scores.

1130 SAT and I got into:
Occidental
USC
USD
Santa Clara
Franklin College Switzerland

But I must say, my ECs and GPA were superlative. I knew all through high school that I had to maintain perfect grades and everything else because my SAT would be low.
