Let there be light! (your favorite light fixtures)

I am drooling over this DNA table lamp. Please stop me frown buying it.

Got any light fixtures that you are wild about? Post away!

I am considering something like this over my island: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L5ITPE8/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2VLLCN53KR6NT&coliid=I3610QFHDSHIQD&psc=1

So industrial-minimalist cool. Love it. B-)

If you have coastal decor or a beach house:

^^That is lovely!

BB - don’t forget to check Costco! It’s where I found my focal piece light fixture for our dining area when we moved. I’d seen ones very similar to it at lighting stores, then found the one I bought for almost half the price, through a Costco-approved third party:

This is the one we went with:

I’ve never had a chandelier before and don’t really consider myself a chandelier person, but the rustic metal ‘orbits’ around it, gave it a unique look that I really liked and worked well with other elements I was bringing into the room. We get a LOT of compliments on it, and when I tell people I got it through Costco, they are floored!

I’ve been looking at lights for the past 2 weeks since I am renovating a pieds-à-terre. My eyes can’t take glare so all lights where I can see the bulbs are out. I really like this ceiling light… but so expensive!

These are the sconces I picked for my bathroom remodel. They’ll be pots, too.

Following this fun thread! I need a new foyer light. Never thought about Costco!

@cbreeze, how about drum lights? We have large pendant ones in my husband’s study which is his man cave. The ceiling is a high, peaked one and they are perfect for providing lots of light without glare.

When we did our big reno a few years ago, I got these great bedside reading lights that have not only a light with a shade but a separate, adjustable reading light. Love them!

@cbreeze, I love that fixture. I’ve never seen anything like that before.

I actually like all the fixtures shown so far. Not one granny fixture among them!

We bought our house from a bachelor. The house was only five years old, but many of his light fixtures looked very “old”. We changed many of them.

@alwaysamom, do you have a link to a similar example of the bedside light you purchased?

@alwaysamom , yes I plan to do that too. George Kovacs have a couple.
My ceiling is standard 8’ so no pendants. I am looking at semi-flushmounts. I like this drum light too

These are what we just ordered to replace the gold brass fixtures that have blown out their sockets…these are for the hallways and the dining room. 8’ ceilings, and DR is 12x10 and attached to the LR, so not much room to be daring. Mid-60s split level. Would like to repaint from cream to gray, but realizing that will mean a lot more changes, since the cream is in all the public areas in the house!

We have this in our kitchen. It’s discreet and illuminates with no fuss and no metal surfaces to tarnish or collect dust. With the acidic fine particulate matter from the volcano, metals tend to tarnish and pit quickly.

@cbreeze I’m a big fan of Hubbarton Forge. The nerd in me had to get the Erlenmeyer flask lamps for our kitchen. All our biologist friends get a kick out of them. http://www.lumens.com/erlenmeyer-mini-pendant-by-hubbardton-forge-uu566937.html

I also really like the Schoolhouse Lamp - in my old smaller kitchen I had one that provided all the light for the kitchen.

@HImom I’ve got those surface mounted LEDs in the basement exercise area.

@abasket Ours are similar to this but not exactly the same.

Not too many lamps being highlighted. I LOVE a room that is lit by lamps. In all of our rooms, we have recessed overhead lighting, and in three rooms, also an overhead light fixture. But I still have lamps everywhere, which are used far more often than the overheads. Lamps give the rooms a softer, cozier, homier feel imo. I can’t stand it when a room is overly lit. Makes me want to grab a pair of sunglasses.

Have any of you seen Candace Olsen’s shows on HGTV? One thing I always loved about her designs was the attention to lighting she always gave. And she used the small pot lights vs. the larger ones we have in our house. Her lighting always gave such a nice ambiance to the rooms.

@BunsenBurner, do you have a contemporary or transitional design sense? That lamp is so pretty, and probably even more so in person. It would go really well in my bedroom or dining room, not so much in my main living areas. If you love it, you should get it! I’ve bought things before simply to fill a space, but when you find something you love, it makes the space so much more special and personal.
