Let's Fight The cancelled admissions

We were all told at the bottom of the ninth that we are no longer being granted admission at UCSD. Rather than ***** and moan to one another on college confidential, lets fight this together. They “didnt get our transcripts”…we all know they did. Some of us sent them more than once. We need to work together to fight this and let the rest of the world know that UCSD is not working ethically. There is no way they didnt get ALL of our transcripts…the truth is they have no room for all of us. We should send a letter to UCSD and tell them what happened to us. There are newspaper articles dated July 29th about the number of extra students admitted to UCSD. (Written in the Guardian - the school newspaper) Mae Brown (the same one who sent us all that email) was interviewed on the issue. Coincidence that we received that email a day before the newspaper was released… I THINK NOT!!! This issue needs to be brought to the eye of the public.

email me with either an email, or home address at which i can reach you, and we can work together to figure out this issue.

Dont give up until this issue has been resolved in our favor!

so you’re saying that UCSD purposely cancelled your admission offers?? why would they do such a thing? they wouldn’t wanna cancel your admission offer just randomly…that would be a big PR nightmare for the school, and the potential lawsuits from it would damage the school’s reputation forever. that wouldn’t happen. i think (if u saw ur admission being cancelled thing online) it MIGHT possibly be an error/bug/virus or something. i think it’ll get resolved, you just have to be patient. easier said than done tho cuz if i were in ur shoes i’d probably wouldn’t be able to sleep for a week.

however, if they are randomly rescinding people, all of the other students at UCSD, including me, would be on your side.

Hey its okay… don’t worry. same thing happened to me too. When I first got the letter I was freaking out because it was soooo random, but i’m okay now. hahah Just go to your High school on Monday and let your High school call UCSD. I’m gonna let them handle the issue because its not my fault. I’m not involved in this issue whatsoever. And i’m sorry but i disagree with your theory, i don’t think this cancelled admission has to do with extra students being admitted.

My dad said if this is not figured out by Monday he’s going to sue them for sure. (hahah he’s probably joking) Man I regret going to UCSD now. I should’ve went to UCB (Go Berkely! Go Cals!) <~~ don’t take this seriously i’m just frustrated… =(

p.s. O by the way I know like 10 more people who got the same letter. waahh my hep B is not checked off either i sent my form like 2305872385 days ago… If the same thing happens with my hep B form i’m not gonna let UCSD slide with this one

Before your admission was rescinded did Tritonlink show that your transcripts were received? Because if Tritonlink did not show that your transcripts were received…why did you sit around and wait for the 15th to pass? Transcripts received and transcripts validated are two totally seperate things. At least for me, there was a bold line that showed when transcripts were received. That happened like a month ago. It wasn’t until this morning that they were actually validated. I know that if TritonLink didn’t show my transcripts as received a week ago I would have hand delivered them to make sure.

mikoyle, it took a long time for the transcripts to show up. I sent mine months ago, but it only showed up very near the deadline.

Before you call for revolution, perhaps make sure you try things the right way? You know, calling both your HS and UCSD, making sure you can resend your transcripts, you know, all that jazz?

They just have too many transcripts and too few employees to process them all. The chicks in the office probably wanted to get out of there a little early on Friday, and figured there was no way they were going to beat the automatic computer message sent to those of you unfortunate enough to be at the bottom of their massive pile anyhow. If I were them I’d wanna go have a few margaritas too. I’m sure it will all be resolved without starting WW3. Relax dude, better yet why don’t you have a margarita too.

how can this happen? what were your stats? gpa? sat scores? when did you send in your transcript? did you postmark your transcript no later than the 15th? i sent my transcript two times with 1 of them being postmark by the postal office with certificate of mailing in case they need proof that i send it in…

They needed to be received, not postmarked, by the 15th. Even so, I bet this will be resolved once all parties are contacted.

no, it is POSTMARKED by the 15th.

Where does it say that? The description next to the box says “Transcripts Received.” Also, for the test scores the website says, “All official test scores must be received by the deadline.” I assumed this to mean received, not postmarked.

The myapplication section on tritonlink is my only resource so I’m probably wrong.

My high school sent my transcripts at the beginning of june…I did not purposely wait until now to argue about my transcripts being sent. I hope all of you are right about This bieng a bug email. I know i was not the only one to receive it. Keep me posted on what happens with all of you…i’ll be sure to do the same. Im still willing to head something up if needed. Just keep me updated.

Interesting theory, but probably really unfeasible. According to that, wouldn’t they be dropping all of the most underachieving students that they took, which would logically start with the winter admits (no offence to you guys)?

I called and they said as long as it’s postmarked by the 15th. It’s okay.

I emailed them once and they told me postmarked by the 15th as well.

Anyone know about the postmark thing for the Hep-B thing?? I post-marked it TODAY (the deadline) and sent it in Express Mail (overnight), haha >_<.

hmm wat the hell happened? i havent been keeping up with the ucsd forum lately

Some people didn’t have their transcripts received, so UCSD said they couldn’t attend. Once they get another copy of their transcripts sent I hope it will be ok.

nope…they will cancel those that were late…they don’t even have enough room for those people that are accepted…

Sources? HAHA
