no…the people that want to sue is because of transcripts received, not grades. they wouldn’t have much of a case with the grades since they signed the contract

so whats the status on this situation, is there going to be a lawsuit? i wanna see how this plays out, keep me updated

If this lawsuit is loosely based on UCSD not receiving grades, it’s out of their hands.

Granted, it could be UCSD’s fault if they misplaced it, but what makes you so sure it was misfiled by the post office? Unless you handed it in by hand or you were guaranteed certified mail with tracking and a receipt, one can’t be sure it’s UCSD’s fault.

it could be UPS/USPS’s fault…not necessarily UCSD. but still

Earlier thiis year, a friend received a notice from UCSD that she hadn’t filed the SIR in time (she had sent it by mail). She had already declined her other offers…her family was going crazy trying to correct the situation.

Then…after a couple of weeks…the school found the missing paperwork and apologized

most students don’t have a couple weeks. If their admission is rescinded, they have a hold on record and won’t be able to register for classes. a month later, even if they get back in, they can’t take any classes.

Personally, I think that it’s ridiculous to decide that UCSD is just rescinding people for whatever reason they can find because they accepted too many people. Even if they accepted too many people, that’s paranoid and ridiculous, and sounds like you’re just rationalizing.

For those that got rejected because of the transcripts, why aren’t you calling? Why aren’t you talking to your high school, trying to get proof that they sent it? Just through reading some of the messages on this board, other people had the same problem and they got it fixed. That does not sound like UCSD is rejecting people for no reason.

As for the grades, UCSD already has the LEAST requirement for GPA out of all the UCs. It’s 3.0 WEIGHTED. Unless you have some really good reason to have gotten a D or an F, you shouldn’t be complaining about anyone’s incompetence but your own. So what if other people in other years got away with it and you didn’t? Life isn’t fair. You should’ve brought your grade up. You signed a contract.

Also, sheep99, I’m just curious as to what the “minor mistakes” that your admission got revoked for are.

the point is ucsd and uci (which also has the same problem) accepted too many people, everyone was basically qualified, what they need to do is expand the schools with all the money, not invest in dumb things

^ As a UCSD admit (who will be attending UCI) I gotta say ur wrong buddy. UCI had pretty much let it slide with everyone. People with Ds were told their admission was “under review”. In the end, 95% of the people stayed accepted… UCI is chill. I think it’s f-ed up that SD would do this. I mean you have made plans, bought dorm stuff, gone to orientation, planned out ur classes and then they hit you.

this is random, but UCI changed all the winter admits to fall admits while SD kept winter admits the same… it’s really obvious they accepted too many people… I personally know people with sh-t grades who got in… SD is a really good school and should have only accepted really good students… no offense to anyone.

“I personally know people with sh-t grades who got in”
ha, thank you for choosing irvine and keeping our avg gpa a respectable number.

Don’t be an ass.

@ eastofla

i also know people who got **** grades that got into uci

face it, there are people with **** grades that get into everywhere, including UCLA and Berkeley. it’s random, get over it, it’s nothing against you…those people just got lucky somehow, someway. it’s all done with.

agreed (10chars)

“I think it’s f-ed up that SD would do this. I mean you have made plans, bought dorm stuff, gone to orientation, planned out ur classes and then they hit you.”

It would be wrong of UCSD to do this if the students hadn’t SIGNED A CONTRACT that stated that they understood that their admission would be revoked for D’s and F’s. It wasn’t like UCSD just randomly decided to kick out everyone with D’s and F’s. Everyone had to sign a contract. They knew the consequences. If they chose to ignore them and hope that everything will work out anyway, they have no one to blame but themselves. The only exception would be someone with a REALLY good reason for getting a D or F, like a death in the family, or a serious illness. “My teacher is crappy and only one person got an A!” doesn’t count.

Everlasting, what’s being discussed are the cancelled admissions related to the transcripts-not-being-received issue, not the grades issue.

If you met every obligation in the provisionary admissions contract, then by all means threaten to sue or something. Good luck to everyone.

i agree. i wish all of you good luck. if you got bad grades quit complaining. if you have an issue with transcripts not coming, keep calling them and your high school repeatedly until they fix it.

This is an email I received from ERC advising.

“We know that there are several students who have been notified by the UCSD Admissions Office that they are missing documents and therefore, have not had transcripts evaluated and cannot view their degree audit. It is your responsibility to follow up with the Admissions Office about missing documentation. That is not something the Advising Office handles. If you don’t meet deadlines to submit those documents, your admission will be cancelled. You can reach UCSD Admissions at 858-534-4831.”

holy **** this sucks…what are your plans now? I can’t believe UCSD is so ingenious to be doing this…can you submit SIRs to the schools you denied?
