Queen Mum was Elizabeth, too. Mary or Catherine would be good with Elizabeth or Carol. We could also have Alice or Alexandra.

A boy might be Philip. They all have Philip as a middle name but no body as a first name.

GIRL: Britney Beyonce Crystal Chanel (multiples because they are ROYAL and classy) Princess BBCC sounds good

BOY: Sam (I like the sound of King Sam)

Post #15, I don’t think Diana should follow Victoria because now you have VD as initials. :D

Caroline Victoria Elizabeth Diana

Arthur William Louis George

Why is that? Just curious. What class connotations does it have in Britain that I would be unaware of? (Is it like the Britney of Britain?)

Isn’t Fiona a Scottish name?

for a boy:
George Philip Michael Charles
reasons:
George to honor Queen Elizabeth’s father; Philip for her husband Prince Philip; Michael for Catherine’s father; Charles for William’s father
Possibly George Spencer Michael Charles to honor Diana’s side of the family. I think it will be George because it would please the queen to know there will be another king with her father’s name.

for a girl:
Elizabeth Victoria Diana Carole
reasons:
Elizabeth for the queen and her mother; Victoria as family name and famous queen;
Diana and Carole for the grandmothers

The first name will be a solid, familiar name suitable for a British king or queen.

Wasn’t there a Princess Fiona (in Shrek)?

^ Oh, that does have me laughing. Good one, Classof2015.

I like Spencer and Michael in the mix, too.
How about Merida? (the Scottish young woman in “Brave”)

I think Meridia was a weight loss pill that is now off the market?

Maybe it is twins because she has been hospitalized for hyperemesis. I say the heck with it name them Buster and Tiffany

“Girl: Victoria Elizabeth (no questions about it)”

I think that’s a winner, given that a girl will be the first firstborn girl born with a guaranteed right to inherit the throne.

Victoria Elizabeth Diana

Albert Philip George

Somehow, I doubt that they will be naming their child[ren] after cartoon characters.

PG, Fiona is a Scottish name. It would be like naming a boy Ian. It seems unlikely.

The idea of Spencer and/or Diana makes me shudder. I don’t want to have to hear the press bleating about the next Princess Di for the rest of my days.

Maybe they should take a leaf out of The Donald’s book and give their kid a super-tacky faux “classy” name… Prince Baron? Or Tiffany. That’s a good one.

Boy - who
Girl - cares

If it’s a girl: Elizabeth.

Not Diana. The name is sort of cursed. It could be one of her middle names, though.

Not any name borne by anyone living in either of their families other than Elizabeth because heaven only knows what scandals they might get into in the remainder of their lives.

Not Victoria because that’s the name of the Crown Princess of Sweden, who is heir to the throne there because of a change in the law similar to the one just made in the UK (the one that makes the firstborn the heir to the throne regardless of gender). It would be too weird for two countries to have Victorias who are heirs to their countries’ thrones as a result of the same type of legal change.

Not Sophia because Prince Edward (Earl of whatever) is married to a woman named Sophie.

If it’s a boy, who knows? Most of the classic names are currently in use by members of one family or the other, except Albert. But Albert is sort of icky (to Americans, anyway).

Girl- Elizabeth Diana- nickname – Ella or Liz
Boy- Phillip Harry-- nickname-- Harry

*“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby,” the announcement said. “The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry and members of both families are delighted with the news.”

The announcement added that Kate was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in London on Monday with a severe form of morning sickness. William is at his wife’s side.*

I think that if the baby is a girl, it should be named Diana. After all, I’d love for Prince Charles and that horsey wife to have to deal with a granddaughter bearing the first wife’s name.

James (the royal family likes to reach back into history for names and there hasn’t been a James in hundreds of years). James was the name of many Scottish kings, could be a sop to the Scots who want to be independent.

So: James William Arthur George for a boy.

Girl: Charlotte (for Prince Charles) Elizabeth Mary
