A friend of mine also suffered from this condition…hospitalized around 12 weeks and than again a few months later…the entire nine months were miserable for her. I don’t wish that for any woman.

I had two friends hospitalized for this, one it lasted the whole pregnancy the other it subsided. It was miserable.
I am not a fan of Charles and Camilla either so no vote for Charles or Charlotte, but like the Frances idea.

Is there a male equivalent to Diana? Not one that I can think of, but I’m all ears.

I don’t think the first name will be Victoria or Elizabeth but I have no doubt that Elizabeth will be a middle name.

I do hope they venture outside the family tree for the first name. These bloodlines just get so darn repetitive :p

You know they can pick any name because the kid, if it becomes King or Queen can pick a ruling name and be yet another freaking George or Edward.

And since I screwed up Ethelred, who was long gone by 1066, they could name him Harold (or Harald).

But in thinking about it, I think the best choice might be Shmuley.

The queen mum’s middle names were Angela Marguerite. That could be nice.

Diana Elizabeth Anne Katherine

Phillip Charles George Albert

My mom was violently ill for 2 of her pregnancies. Back then the doctors said it was related to blood type. She is RH negative and it was either the baby or my dad whose blood did not jive with her blood. After the first baby, she had to get a shot so future pregnancies would not be as difficult/life threatening.

I don’t think it is that simple. And succession was not at issue originally, since she was not a divorcee or a Catholic.

Thank you for the water now on my keyboard! LOL

IMO it was awfully generous of Kate to accept that ring so closely associated with William’s mother, but I hope William doesn’t also expect his daughter to wear Diana’s tragic history for her entire life. It’s time to move on. Let the little girl have traditional royal names, with “Frances” as one of the middle names as a lovely tribute to her paternal grandmother.

Alexandra Victoria Frances Caroline

No opinion on a boy’s name. Just toss the usual suspects into the air and see what order they come down.

It’s just not that simple when you’re heir to the throne, and the rules were different a generation ago. When Charles was young, the heir HAD to marry a virgin; that was hundreds of years’ of tradition. It was known that Camilla had a “history” so she simply wasn’t an option.

As for stepping down, Charles knew better than almost anyone how Edward’s abdication nearly destroyed the monarchy. The royal family, including his Edward’s mother, never forgave him. If Charles were a stronger man, perhaps he could have stood up to his own mother and dragged the monarchy into the modern era, but he’s weak and trained to revere the monarchy above all.

While I don’t condone the adultery while Charles and Diana were married, you must understand that that’s how it had been done for hundreds of years. Royal wives were for breeding an heir, and the king/crown prince had mistresses, and Charles had no reason to think that the rules had changed. And the entire royal family, including the Queen, miscalculated when they chose Diana, believing that she would quietly accept her role as ceremonial partner and mother of the heir, just as all of her predecessors had.

I do give the Queen credit though, for learning the lesson of Charles’ disastrous marriage. This time she adapted to the modern world, and allowed William to marry his love, not only a non-virgin but a commoner to boot. Diana blazed that trail.

Hear. Hear then. It is Janus derived from Dianus. Quite a PITA of a name!

No, tango14. This is not just a hyper precaution because of who she is. HG is serious and often requires hospitalization. It is not mere morning sickness.

‘Dino’ might work as a male version of Diana. ‘Dino da duke’ could be called DDD or Triple D in the tabloid newspapers’ headlines.

I think for a girl they should go with a name that is unique to the line so she will be Queen _____ the First given she is the first female heir that can obtain the throne in her own right. What that name is, not sure :D.

There isn’t any male equivalent to Diana, but I guess the male parallel would be Apollo. “Apollo Windsor” has a nice ring to it.

Girl: Mary Elizabeth Victoria Diana
Boy: George Philip Charles William

Break with tradition.

boy: Harry Potter
girl: Pink

If it’s a boy: Ethelred

If it’s a girl: Ethel

If it’s a canister: Ethylene

“she is the first female heir that can obtain the throne in her own right.”

No, she isn’t. She’s the first female heir who can inherit the throne over a younger brother. The present queen inherited the throne in her own right. She was the oldest daughter of a king with no sons.
