^^ Why do you get “offended” when people say DC is the south? What is so bad about being south of the Mason-Dixon Line?

My county closed school at around 6 something.
Va is a divided state. I’m serious.

^^Clearly offended is the wrong word, but DC doesn’t have any characteristics of being in the South (no accents, opposite politics, demographics very different, etc). Also, DC was the capital of the North during the Civil War!

Yeah… We had fun arguments about DC during the Civil War.

When you say “DC”, do you mean the Northern Virginia/Maryland/DC Metro area as well? I can agree to that then.

I hated my parents when I moved from Raleigh to Stafford. For some reason, I thought Virginia would be more country than North Carolina. Boy was I wrong.

We have nothing like the rest of Virginia. We vote liberal, extremely diverse, highly educated, and have a higher income compared to the rest of the state. It is truly weird how that came to be.

I agree that Northern Virginia and the rest of Virginia are two completely different areas. But I still refer to Northern Va as the south… when it comes to snow.

Lol I’m 5 minutes from Stafford.

Most concentrated area of affluent blacks is NoVa

random Canadian here hehe

^JEALOUS. Canada looks beautiful, I wanna go there so bad.

I love Alberta. Best place on earth.

It is! I love Canada. If you do ever come here, you have to visit Banff, PEI, Quebec (old Quebec), and obviously Toronto.

^I’m from Ontario!

^ I was in Ottawa when I was very young. I think it was nice. I’d love to visit the north shore of Lake Superior/Huron someday, especially the Killarney/French River area off Georgian Bay.

Still, it’s tough to beat Alberta.

Yess! definitely visiting in the summer. My dad travels to Toronto all the time so I’ll go with him on one of his trips and walk around. xD

WOW. is this really banff?! http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1a/Banff_Avenue_-_Cascade_Mountain.jpg

Have you been there?!

No. Memphis completely shuts down whenever we get less than an inch of snow.
We’re going through a crisis right now, so they were too busy to shut down schools.
As a result, 16 accidents happened between the hours of 6 and 11 am.
:)

I went to Canada a lot when I lived in Washington because the border is so close. British Columbia is gorgeous; Victoria is really charming and Vancouver is great too. But of course it feels just like the US–the only differences are people say “eh” and everything is in the metric system and Canadian dollars. Virtually the same… I’d love to go to French Canada sometime.

Whistler is really nice too.
And I like Tofino. :)

@ MIT, You really live five minutes away from Stafford? I thought you applied to Thomas Jefferson? Only residents of Alexandria and Fairfax county can apply. At least that is what I thought, and those two counties are a good 30 - 40 minutes away.

I definitely agree with the blacks thing. It is not uncommon to see blacks driving high end BMWs, Mercedes Benz, and especially a Lexus. Black people seem to love a Lexus.

TJ allows 8 counties in NoVa to apply. Prince William County is one of those counties.

@rrcj: Banff is gorgeous. I’ve been there. Jasper is supposed to be really nice too; I’d love to go. The Canadian Rockies are great: [Flickr: The Canadian Rockies Pool](Flickr: The Canadian Rockies Pool)

You learn something new everyday.

That is true indeed.
