Letter from current Hotchkiss senior

agree

Though if my kid was admitted, I would let admissions know they should tell their seniors NOT to send these emails out within a few weeks of M10…if they can’t get it done by, say, Feb 15, don’t do it at all.

It clearly would be read, at this juncture, by MANY people as a good sign. It is easy to be objective as an observer on the boards!

Things slip through cracks at any school, but I think this isn’t a great look..

Examples of big signs that often appear between late February and early March: some admission offices will communicate with current families (especially those who have been major donors, trustees, etc.) and inform them of the decisions. Most of these messages are NOT positive. For example, “we tried really hard to find a good fit for your child, but it is really a particularly competitive year…”

Big signs that are positive: coaches or specific directors continuing to engage with you till this time, or asking if you if you’d attend Revisit Day if you’re accepted. Some may ask even more directly, “Are we your top choice school?” If you experience any of the above 3, then it is a big positive.

The most reliable sign, however, as @Publisher pointed out, is a notification for tuition payment or a DHL/FedEx/USPS tracking number.

Best of luck to everyone on M10. Only 2 days to go!
