hey guys, yesterday i received an email from current senior at hotchkiss. nn the email student said she is ‘Blue Lead Ambassador so part of my job is connecting with prospective students like yourself‘ and i can ask some questions about student perspective.
did you have any experience with this kind of email?

are you sure? it says ‘connecting with prospective students‘, not admitted ones
i think you shouldn’t assume anything as of now and just wait for m10.

yeah i agree and i don’t think it means something
I hate to assume anything, but that is a bizarre thing for them to have students send a few days before M10 if you didn’t get in IMO.
If they sent it in early Jan? Sure that seems like a normal admissions thing to do… but now? it feels like the senior either sent it VERY early or VERY late to me.
Broadly speaking, a “prospective student” can also be an “admitted student” as students typically have more than one offer of admission.
Also, contacting prospective students, whether or not already admitted, might be a way to gauge the student’s interest in that school.
Nothing in my post is specific to Hotchkiss.
i dont think we should let OP assume that this is a guarantee to admission and get their hopes up just incase. m10 is soon enough and we all will know..

yeah i actually think the email was sent too late, because the student mentions interview and asks about any additional questions

ahh, then yeah, maybe they are just knocking it off a to-do list for like 6 weeks ago? eeek. that isn’t great !!
I don’t think it is a sign of admit or deny or anything…
Just a sign this senior is overwhelmed:)

Yes, always worth remembering that people at these schools are typically busy this time of year, and many discrepancies that applicants pick up on when sharing stories online are not a secret code for who got admitted, but just a product of different people getting around to their tasks at different times, or sometimes not at all.

Receiving a bill from a school for the upcoming school year prior to March 10.
(For those unaccustomed to my sense of humor, the above is intended to be a humorous response.)

Almost nothing that people talk about at this point is actually a reliable early sign of admissions/denial (I am aware that some boarding schools may have competitive merit scholarships where you are notified you are a Finalist in advance, and that is fairly taken as implying you are going to be admitted).
So the best advice is to not torture yourself looking for signs and just find other things to do with your mental and emotional energy as you are waiting.
