letter to send in when you get deferred

i got deferred ED, and people have told me to write a letter to admissions telling them how much i really want to go to uva. does this really help? and if so, what kinds of things should i write in it to make them like it? how long should it be?

The letter should come from you. Write what you think is important for us to know.

yes, i did this, and i am here now. it definitely is something personal and no one can tell you what to put in it. with that said… you can basically tell them why you want to be at uva, etc, and let them know that they want you here!! dont be afraid to pour your heart out. :)

thanks for the info, guys. but is there a limit on the length of the letter? how much would be too much?

Be concise. Obviously you’ll want to make it long enough that it conveys your interest in UVa, but don’t overdue it to the point where they get bored reading it or it becomes just a waste of time. I think that one page typed would be pretty reasonable.

Does this letter apply to the normal application deadline?
