Life's simple pleasures

My cat’s company. Watching figure skating. Pomegranates.

I’m not going to list working from home, even though I love it every day, because it took too many years of hard work to get here. I call that a complex pleasure!

After Sandy, we didn’t have electricity for a week or so. Minor, I know, but I realized that there is really nothing that a hot shower and a cup of hot coffee cannot improve. Ahhh.

A cup of tea and the New York Times crossword puzzle.

A tortilla with melted cheese and my cat in my lap. The sunset over the local lake, as pictured in my profile. Co workers that keep me laughing and are on the smart side of most issues.

A purring cat next to me, a good book and hot cup of tea, while looking out at a snowstorm. Perfection.

On cold days like today, it is our heated mattress pad. So cozy to get into a warm bed.

Getting home from work and putting on sweatpants and a hoodie!
One of my cats getting under the covers with me just before I have to get up in the morning.
Sonic iced tea after a hot summer long run.
Fashion magazines.
My giant dog acting like I’ve been gone for a month every evening when I get home.
Gel polish manicures that even I can’t chip.
Craft beer.

Coming home from work to see that D has done the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen. A hot shower. A day without a migraine. (Unfortunately, today was not that day.)

I love taking the dog to the dog park.
I could just say Dogs!

Getting lost in numerous fiction books- fantasy/sci fi and added mysteries to the mix. I devour books- it is so nice to have the luxury of people willing to write for me and the time to read.

A day off.

Running water. My hot bath at the end of the day.
Seeing the ocean from the deck of my room.
Seeing the Pacific Ocean when I return from a trip inland.

Onward, a heated mattress pad sounds divine. Are they safe? I had a heated blanket growing up and can still remember the day my parents ripped it from my bed saying research came out indicating it was a health hazard. I would love to have a heated mattress pad. Where did you purchase yours?

The smell of the rain in the desert. I grew up in AZ and it rarely rains, but smells wonderful! Doesn’t smell the same anywhere else I’ve lived (and I’ve lived in a lot of places). I went home this past August and it rained! Heavenly!

Late afternoon at the beach, when most people have gone home, just relaxing, listening to the ocean, and waiting for a beautiful sunset

HarvestMoon1- as far as I know they are! We got this one at Target but they sell them everywhere- Kohls, Amazon, Macy’s, even Menards. I don’t remember the brand but I think it was around $50 for a queen. It has two controls, which is great. We turn it on an hour before bed and then the bed is cozy. We often then turn it off for the night or put it on real low. We love it!

Having loved ones all together, especially over the holidays always makes me so very happy. Knowing my kids and loved ones are mostly happy also makes me smile. Having hubby around and being able to spend time together, with both kids happily done with college makes us SO happy!

Getting to see a loved one after an absence (unless a foot of snow stops the buses running, here’s hoping!)

A car vacating a parking space just as you pull into a totally crowded parking lot :-bd

Reviving this b/c our grown son’s want to vacation with us. Puts a smile on my face.
