likely letters for int. + mid year report

<p>1)Do school that send out likely letters such as dartmouth send them out to international students, canadians in particular?</p>

<p>2) so my school is a good school but extremely inflated. My marks are 95% and more and are on average 7-10% higher than the class median. so even though marks in general are inflated, they won’t hurt me in the admission process… right? I know they’ll look at your sat scores to get a fair assessment. I have 730 chem 740 physics, 770 math 1 for sat 2s; my chem, physics, and math (calculus) marks are 100, 100, 97 respectively. I know my physics and chem sat marks don’t really reflect my marks in school… how would selective school interpret this information? And are sat 2s that important? I mean I’m not going into science or anything.</p>

<p>3) Is it a good idea to contact regional directors to try to schedule interviews if someone does not get contacted for an interview? </p>

<p>1) Don’t know, but I’ve not heard of international students receiving likely letters, at least from what I’ve read here and on some other websites.</p>

<p>2) SAT II are not that important as many stress…unless you have a 500 Math and you’re applying to MIT, or something crazy like that. Just score decent and youll be alright. (Get like, say an average of 700 on all the tests). The adcoms will probably know about the grade inflation, but remember that you aren’t being judged solely based on numbers…after all you are a human being and not a collection of statistics. So while grade inflation would most likely be noticed, it’s not gonna kill you. It’s not gonna help you either. </p>

<p>3) Interviews are not the only deciding factor…of course, a positive impression on the interviewer will definitely help on your admission decision, but it’s not totally necessary. By now most colleges are reaching the end of the interview period, so maybe you could try calling. If you don’t get an interview don’t sweat it.</p>

<p>yea, i called dartmouth on friday. the assistant told me that dartmouth indeed gives out likely letters to canadian and international students. anyone on the other 2 questions?</p>

<p>Some colleges give you a hint that you are likely to be admitted (“likely letters”). Some schools send out letters that state that explicitly (e.g. those from Wellesley), some only hint at it and still others send out early scholarship notifications, invitations to on-campus events, t-shirts, or whatever else you can think of.</p>
