Lilly Pulitzer Target store fiasco

I was wondering why my Target Parking Lot was so unusually full. Learned later about why on the news.

When my girls were in middle school they begged me not to get any Lily for them, especially matching ones.

I’ve been wearing Birkenstocks lately because of my foot issues. Some of them are pretty cute, I think like anything though, the size you need makes a difference in the final look.
I don’t wear them with socks, if it’s that cold I wear boots.

I could get away with wearing overalls to high school for example, cause I was 5’2" /105lbs, but they had a different look on my friends who were 6ft & 160lbs.

They sell them at Anthroplogie & JCrew which I find amusing.

I wouldn’t wear cowboy boots or birkis. But that’s just me.

Cowboy boots, yes. Birkis, no.

I do like shoes. I also have narrow heels and foot issues and honestly stuart weitzman fits me better than any other shoe designer. Whoever designs for them gets my high arch, narrow heels, big toe issues.

I’m not really a “lilly” person. My d likes jack wills which is an english brand. It fits her well and isn’t like the same old dresses and patterns you see everyone else in. Large size girls need not enter their doors - UK sizes are roughly 2 larger than US, the run small and they don’t sell over a uk 8 (aka small 4 in the us) That used to really irritate me until I realized that it is hard for smaller, petite girls to not look like they’re drowning in some us styles.

D2 likes Madwell.

I love Madewell. It’s a JCrew affiliate.

OK… so I made some more progress today. Had a half hour to kill in a neighboring suburb between appointments, so I went into a store that I thought might carry Rainbow, and they did! When I said to the sales clerk that someone had recommended I try the Rainbows because I wanted some flip flops with arch support, she said, “Oh, no, you need to try Olukai.” And they were right next to the Rainbows. She said in their store, they all wear the Olukais. I tried some on and they were OK… then I tried another style on with wider straps and they were better. They had a champagne color that was more neutral (I’m still looking for a white), so I bought those. I will wear them around the house for a bit longer than a couple of minutes and see how I like them. Then I tried on a pair of Rainbows, and they did fit across the top of my foot much better - they were much snugger. But they don’t have anything in white. If after I do my Olukai test here at home, indoors only, and they don’t feel comfortable, I’ll return them and get a pair of Rainbows. But… as she said, the Olukai have more arch support than Rainbows.

I also just bought a pair of Teva sandals a couple of weeks ago; but they’re going to become my hiking sandal for our Vancouver trip late summer (I do also have some good hiking boots, but also wanted hiking sandals). The Tevas are very comfortable, but not what I want to keep at my door to run out to the mailbox in, since I can’t just ‘slip’ into them.

Then there are my Ahnus I just got, and my new Merrells. I think I’m done shoe shopping for a long time!

I would never wear cowgirl boots in the city. If I owned a bunch of oil wells out in maybe west Texas I would consider wearing cowgirl boots when flying out to check my oil patches with my jet helicopter.

teriwtt, Amazon has white wide strap Rainbows. http://www.amazon.com/Rainbow-Sandals-301ALTS-Premier-Leather/dp/B002XZOUEC/ref=sr_1_5_mc?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1429667520&sr=1-5 I was looking at them yesterday after this discussion.

THANK YOU!! I am ordering them right now, whether or not I keep the Olukais or not!

Teriwtt- ahnu is a Deckers brand. Same company that owns Ugg and Teva. I love the look of many of the Ahnu styles but haven’t tried them yet.

I got these, and they are SO lightweight! I am having a hard time waiting until after Memorial Day to wear them, so I might anyway. Arch support is good and they’re fairly easy slip on (but not as easy as traditional flip flops, obviously).

I also bought these in the Deep Wisteria color, just for wear with jeans or yoga pants, when I don’t want to wear my work-out sneakers (and have worn them already):

These are my first Ahnus, and I’m becoming a fan. I just can’t find a lot of stores around here that carry them. I ordered both these pairs on line.

This thread is dangerous. I might need to plan another visit to the Deckers Showroom and try on some Ahnus. I love the color of those sneakers.

The Rainbow’s will fit very snugly at the beginning, but they do stretch out after wearing them for a little while. I like the thicker strap so I typically just order from the men’s section.

I wish they’d use the yoga mat material in some of these shoes like they do with the Sanuks.

I second that - my yoga Sanuks are so comfortable - except I should have purchased a size 11, the fabric straps are a little tight between my toes at the end of the day.

@teriwtt I’ll look forward to your comparisons! My son got a pair of Olukais as a gift, but he won’t wear them. If they were my size, I’d give them a try!

Cowboy boots…love the look, but my feet don’t like them. My fave memory is the pair of cowboy boots (cheap Payless ones) that I bought on a whim for oldest son when he was two or three, that ended up being worn by all my kids. Middle D wore them best…either buck nekkid, or with her “kini”. (bikini) She’d bolt out the front door, in either ensemble, before I could catch her sassy little 2 year old self.

Teriwtt, love those ahnu sandals, I’ve been looking at them for awhile but I really, really don’t need another pair so I’ve been trying to be good lol!

I have a pair of ahnu flats and really like them.

My sil and all her relatives and myself bought the Sanuk yoga mat sandals last summer. I get compliments every time I wear them. And they are so comfortable.
