Lipstick

The nail polish thread inspired me. I’ve been on a lipstick buying kick lately and I would love to hear what works for other women. I’m beginning to think I’m just not a lipstick person. Anyone have a “holy grail” color or brand?

Revlon lip butter in Pink Truffle is the one I have in my travel bag, purse, and vanity. Neutral with enough pink so I don’t look half dead (fair skin). Doesn’t last all day, but very comfortable to wear.

Bobby Brown Blue Raspberry. It’s a very neutral color, and doesn’t feel heavy.

I like Bobbi Brown plum color lip gloss.

Real people wear lipstick?

I always put lipstick on before I walk out the door.

I don’t like heavy lipstick, but need a little color. Almost Lipstick in Black Honey by Clinique.

I wear and collect lipsticks
It is the only makeup I wear other than tinted moisturizer
I have olive skin and wear darker tones
Love MAC lipsticks viva glam 1,2 and 3
I have also used their Russian red and Ruby woo
and Dark Side.

I think the last time I wore lipstick was in 1994…

If I wear any (which might be twice a year) it’s Loreal Mica or Estée Lauder copper

I can’t imagine not having a lip color of some sort. My lips are pale and I look sickly with no color. Are those of you who don’t wear lipstick also saying you don’t even wear a tinted balm?

Clinique Tenderheart is neutral enough to put on without a mirror. Most days I just wear neutrogena tinted balm.

I got a couple of gift cards for Mother’s Day to Sephora so I’ve been trying out some lipstick. Of course, I find that as I get older I need all the help I can get or at least I need something to brighten up my face a bit since everything is fading. I have found the Clinique lipsticks are the least lipsticky and the easiest to wear. There’s not a lot of pigment in them. I also like Bobbi Brown and Lancome Lacewood. I have olive skin. I would like to stick to nudes or neutrals, but some of the nudes make me look sickly.

livinginLA, I wear plain, untinted lip balm with sunscreen, but that is all.

Clinique Chubbystick…but now lots of companies make “chubby stick” style lipstick so you can find it cheaper, just dont’ bother with the Ulta brand, it stinks. They even have a four-piece in travel size

I wear a powder foundation (used to be Bare Minerals, which I love, but I developed an allergy to it, so now I use Neutrogena brand) and mascara. Occasionally lip gloss, but I usually forget. That’s it.

My current favorites:
Mac in Touch and Velvet Teddy
Charlotte Tilbury in Stoned Rose
Bite Beauty in Pepper
Pixi in Rose Naturelle (sold in Target)
Revlon Lip Butter in Pink Truffle

I don’t leave the house without it. I have Bobbi Brown in several colors and also Laura Mercier. Right now on wearing BB raspberry. In winter I wear a lot of darkish mauve. Never red.

I look dreadful without lippy on.

Lip liner makes a big difference. I love the Clinique automatic pencils. No sharper needed and compact. Warm Raisen is the perfect color-- not orangy, not too dark like Tammy Faye Baker. Nice, even color distribution. I notice that cheap brands have poor solids dispersion. They go on blotchy.

Clinique discontinued the Warm Raisen color for a while, then brought it back when regulars complained.

I rarely wear makeup, but when I do, I always use lipliner. I love these Chanel lip liners:

I paint the inside the contour, too, and apply some gloss. No lipstick needed. Mr. really hates lipstick on me… He hates gloss, too. He has tasted them all and have yet to like any

Lip liner drawn slightly outside the lip-line helps to make aging lips look fuller. Fuller lips make the entire face look younger.

Lip liner is cheaper than a face lift.
