Interesting! There are a lot of winners who don’t have a college listed at all. Did you not find out about them, or did they not go to college? Thanks for doing this!

Were some of the Yale degrees MFA’s?

Re: Yale. I found this on David Hyde Pierce’s Wiki. Haven’t looked at the others.

As a child, Pierce frequently played organ at the local Bethesda Episcopal Church in Saratoga Springs.[3] He began acting while in high school, earning recognition as best Dramatic Arts student. In 1977, Pierce received the Yaddo Medal for character and scholarship and worked in theater while a counselor at Camp Kabeyun in New Hampshire.[4] However, his love of music was still strong, so he decided to study classical piano at Yale University. However, Pierce soon grew bored with music history lessons and found that he wasn’t dedicated enough to practice the required number of hours to become a successful concert pianist. Instead, he graduated in 1981 with a double major in English and Theatre Arts.

The designer’s degrees are (at least the one’s I know for sure) graduate degrees. The undergrad degrees aren’t listed.

Plus, many of these people graduated over 40 years ago!

Note of interest…

Stark Sands and Charyl Brown were classmates at the USC School of Dramatic Arts. They were both Class of 2001. This is Stark’s second Tony nomination.

All of them except David who got his professional training at Michael Howard Studios.

I used to do these every year although it used to be near impossible to find the backgrounds of those on the Design side so yay for Wikipedia! However, things take a turn for the bizarre when you get to the point that you actually know a few of them …
