University of Washington has started taking students off its wait list. Rumor has it that about 150 spots will be offered this year compared to 1,079 spots last year.

D received email that she is on extended WL. Maybe this is just protection for H from summer melt but have no other info. I am still wondering how real most WLs actually are (or are not).

Added Dartmouth, University of Michigan, and University of Washington based on posts above. Current list:

This list has become inaccurate, don’t believe Amherst or dartmouth has gone to waitlist. A connected stray or two might have been taken, but these schools are not using the wl at this time.

Redroses, do you have specific information on the Amherst waitlist? I don’t believe that it has been specified one way or the other by anyone who actually accepted a place on the waitlist…

Agree with comments above re errors. In addition, for example, Hopkins did go to its WL but is now done. This may be true for many others. The list is NOT those who have active WLs.

Double checked the Dartmouth board - it sounds like one person was admitted on May 15, but that no one has heard anything that would make them think that the school plans to admit anyone from the waitlist. The next time someone updates the list, remove Dartmouth.

The list is for schools that have gone to wait list, not necessary “active list”. It is useful because if a school has gone to it’s WL, then a student could contact the school or choose to move on because he/she has not been contacted.

If Dartmouth took only one student from WL, it still went to it’s WL.

^^^ Exactly. This simply reflects schools that have taken people of the wait list. It is not supposed to be an active list. Also, this list based on inputs from various contributors. If something is not correct, please make necessary changes or post the correction. It is only as accurate as the contributions.

lesilet: Hopkins called another batch of 20 students this morning, per their blog, in addition to the 30 they called last week. Now they say they’re mostly done but are not releasing their list.

Caltech has taken some students off the W/L based on postings in that forum. It may be limited but they have made a few offers. Adding CalTech

Posts: 4,356 Although I do not post under the UM forum I would feel helpless if I didn’t share information about waitlist.
A student at my school who was waitlisted at UMich was accepted within the first week of May, student explain their disgust / disregards towards the school. They will be attending MSU.
So I’m sure students have been admitted off the waitlist, just very few at the moment. For whatever reason those who so happenly wish to attend UMich and was waitlisted there is still time.

What people write on a school’s board here is often not accurate, I tend to believe the schools themselves.

Dartmouth has NOT yet gone to their waiting list.

what about lehigh?

Smith College closed their waiting list

Lehigh is on the list of colleges NOT going to their waitlist
