Middlebury = No need b/c other test results considered
UMiami = Yes
UCONN = Yes

Stanford-recommended
Oberlin-no need if high school education was/is in English
Amherst-700+ CR, or high school education in English
Colgate-required if your first language isn’t English

99% of colleges: Not required if you went to an English-language high school. I emailed 8 of my 11 colleges and they waived the TOEFL for me. The other 3 don’t require it

Conn Coll: waived if you email the office with your high CR scores

mmm, good for the smaller colleges that actually personalize their email replies…

Kenyon: no need since only 1 among SAT, TOEFL and ACT required

I was suprised when I found out that Harvard didn’t require the TOEFL.

Wesleyan: not needed if you get 650 or above in critical readin

I’m not sure about other places, but in India theres a huge misconception that TOEFL is the prime requirement to study in america. Whenever i tell someone i’m applying to college in US they go “so you had to give the TOEFL n stuff?”
This myth NEEDS to be dispelled.

Remember you still need to score pretty high on the SAT I CR to get TOEFL waived in most cases, and/or study in a school where English is the main language of instruction. I am sure there are a lot of applicants for whom neither is the case.

Per individual request: link for Columbia:

anyone knows why does some grad school (ex: MIT) required toefl when an international student’s already been studying undergrad here in the US at a highly ranked school and has GRE scores?

^lol, is that true?

Because you still make grammar mistakes even after undergrad studies… that’d be a start, I don’t know.
