Looking forward to the discussion about the summer games. I always find it crazy that the competition begins before the Opening Ceremonies. Watching soccer today!

DVR-ing the game, so I’ll have to keep away from this thread til later ;-).

This is the first Olympics I will see since we purchased a high def television. I’m looking forward to it and hoping there are no vuvuzelas at the soccer games. :)

We have been trying to clear out the DVR so there is plenty of room for the Olympics (can’t persuade H to delete Will and Kate’s wedding, however.)

Let’s decide on ground rules for this thread - spoilers or no spoilers? I personally like spoilers…it is much more relaxing to watch gymnastics when you know in advance that your favorite fell off the beam.

In my opinion, missypie, spoilers are fine. It limits discussion too much otherwise. If someone has a particular event that they don’t want spoiled, then they can avoid the thread until they watch it.

LOL, I’m the same way! I’m the opposite of an adrenaline junkie. :)

I’m not much of a twitter user, but I just went into my account to follow the us olympic team, nbc sports, usa gymnastics and some of the athletes.

Nice game by the US Women. They need to start the game fully awake, however, and their defensive speed is a concern.

Please instruct him to immediately turn in his Man card.

I have tickets for two gold medal tennis matches, yay!

NBC is going to have a live stream of every event.

[Live Olympic Video - Full Schedule | NBC Olympics](http://www.nbcolympics.com/online-listings/day=july-28/index.html)

And swimming and tennis are the only two that really matter. Maybe beach volleyball.

Because of the weather, the players will likely be wearing pants and long sleeve shirts.

It just won’t be the same. ;)

I will change the name of the thread so that it reads “SPOILER ALERT.” Then no one can complain!

I accidentally saw the women’s score when it was 2-2 (popped up the local paper’s web page) but that kept me from high blood pressure while watching the DVR so it was all good!

I thought their uniforms were hideous! I have seen rec teams with much better looking uniforms.

CSIHSIS, I had forgotten that tennis was an Olympic sport :-). We’re definitely more into the gymnastics and the soccer around here, but there’s something for everyone. Enjoy your tickets!

I just watched a few minutes of the women’s gymnastics podium training. Jordan Weiber and Aly Raisman look entirely too much alike…I studied the head shots and Jordan’s eyebrows are thinner and more arched. But just looking at the back of one of them on the beam, hard to tell them apart.

Twitter is a great place to get some blurbs about things going on that might not make the news. One of the people I follow anyway, Apolo Ohno, is in London and has been sharing lots of his real experiences.

I love this response by Phelps to Apolo when asked “How do you keep it simple amid all the other distractions?”

Phelps response: “There’s a pool, lane lines, everything else like at an ordinary meet. We just stick with what works.” :)

That’s how I get through watching gymnastics…yes they fall and yes it’s terrible for them, but other than a few horrible falls that result in injuries, gymnasts fall *all the time *in the gym when they are trying to perfect difficult skills.

Did anyone else see the McDonald’s commercial where the girl is urging an Olympian to train harder so she can win more prizes? I thought it was really cute. I loved collecting those McDonald’s cards as a kids and then cheering on the USA in whatever strange sport was listed. Such a great way to get people to care about the less popular events.

Spain sees red in its opening game in soccer. And, for once, they are on the losing end of a 1-0 score.

Serena has an okay draw and Venus will get knocked out immediately, and probably Roddick too -_-

I am always amazed at how many events there are in the summer Olympics. Look at this link!

Does anyone know how the extended coverage online works? I don’t have cable, but my parents do. They don’t have internet, so it’s perfect. I want to use their cable as a way to get myself more online access. Any idea how that works?
