In another topic, did anyone else watch the sync. diving this morning. I was very impressed. And, again, it’s a sport one can rarely watch on TV!

It was pretty obvious to me that Lauer and Vieira didn’t understand what they were seeing. They weren’t as well prepped as the typical televised parade hosts are.

I wasn’t bored. Rather, I was annoyed that NBC cut so much, and also so many of their camera angles made it difficult to see what was going on. Thus, when dozens of Mary Poppins drop in, NBC zooms on one of them who is good-looking. Since I was watching it on NBC in the evening, I can’t really comment on whether it was disjointed or not–since it was dismembered. I wonder if those who watched a live feed felt it was more or less coherent?

Just watched Ariana’ s 200 IM heat. She was wearing a Tyr suit - ? Her breaststroke was really nice, but her crawl looked just a bit off, and she lost some time during the backstroke leg by bumping into the lane line! She laughed about it afterwards. Glad that she made the semis. Phew.

Final mens team gymnastics:

China

Great Britain (pandamonium in the house!!!)

Ukraine

Japan (their big star fell on PH, their last event)

USA

Russia

Germany

France

I so hope that NBC lets us follow the British story tonight, because everyone is saying they were the loudest crowd anyone has ever heard at a gymnastics meet.

Japan is protesting something…they are really close to Ukraine.

Poor American guys. Sam, Jake and Jon did well. It was John and Danell who made the most mistakes. Hope they get their heads together for the AA.

missypie,
I bet we see a lot of the Brits tonight. After all, if not us, why not show the cousins? I imagine the NBC editors are really hard at work now.

Japan just won the challenge and have gone back to having the silver and gbr is getting bronze

Wow! Japan jumped up to Silver, Great Britain down to Bronze, Ukraine out of medals.

Right. With tape delay, they have to decide what story they want to tell us…USA craters? Great Britain’s unexpected medal? “Controversy” with Japan?

On to swimming! Hoping for better results for USA there.

My D just sent me that article about the Chinese 16 yr old swimmer. Her last split was faster than Lochte’s - Either she is a superhuman, or…

Looking forward to seeing Missy Franklin swim. Lots of Canadians rooting for this dual citizen!

I have to agree with this. Couldnt they find choreographers and dancers at par with the SYTCD people? The dance routines were lackluster and to be honest, it kinda looks like they just practiced for a month. Take a look a SYTYCD, the contestants practice routines (one couple dance and group dance) for only a week and they nail it and move with gusto. At the very least, couldnt they find good performers for the teen girl role and her friends, ditto with the teen boy and his friends?

I did enjoy the bit with the Queen and Mr. Beans, probably because Ive watched Mr. Beans before. The cauldron was a glorious scene and in fact, together with the fireworks ended the ceremony on a high note.

BB, for Ye, I go with…

Gosh… kind of surprised at the remarks regarding the opening ceremonies. We loved them, thought it was terribly British and quite a good show.
(I never thought passion and the Brits really go together anyway.)

Bean. No s. :)

Yannick Agnel swam that 200 Free like a well-oiled machine. Bravo to him on another Gold.

Wow. Agnel’s swim last night for the win was not a fluke. He smoked the entire field the whole time.

Agnel is amazing!

I’m a little sad Lochte lost though.

Lochte is a major failure, especially compared to all of the expectations of him being the next Phelps.

If anyone is watching tennis, this Switzerland/Japan doubles match is CCCCRAAAZZZYYYY awesome.

Go Missy! The gold in 100 back right 15 minutes after qualifying in the semi for 200 free.

Franklin just won gold?

She did, indeed. And also Matt Grevers.

What did Grevers do?
