London Olympics 2012 - SPOILER ALERT

Gold 100 back and Thoman silver

I need something to calm my nerves! 100 br final is coming up! And then 200 IM semis!

I think that’s a pretty harsh assessment of Lochte. Most train for years and never make the Olympic Team. Those that do often don’t medal. If they do to medal, to medal more than once, be a leader in your sport, and a decorated Olympian from more than one Olympics…to be able to keep yourself competitive over the years…

But hey, if that’s your definition of a ‘major failure’…

I’m sitting here with my heart pounding during this tennis match. I usually drop everything to watch swimming at this time but this is too good.

Me too, BB. I almost had a heart attack with the false start.

NBC is showing water polo. Where are you seeing live coverage of swimming? I want to watch.

Online on NBC website

^ online…

[Live Olympic Video - Full Schedule | NBC Olympics](http://www.nbcolympics.com/online-listings/day=july-30/index.html)

I agree. The “hype” is generated by the media and advertisers. What’s a modest person to do? Say “You think I’m going to win a bunch of medals but I"m prebably not as good as you think I am, so I’d better decline your request for an interview” or maybe “Yes, I know you want me to do a commercial, but I’m really not the best in the world, so I’ll decline the oppportunity and the money” ???

Thank you for the info!

jym626,
You have something against badminton?

I think the baseball thing would affect the Dominican Republic more than the US, jym626. They usually dominated.

I have no problem with badminton, but I don’t think dressage is a sport (well, it is for the horse).

Lochte was not supposed to swim the 400 Free Relay! His scheduled events were 200 BK, 200/400 IM, 200 FR and 800 Free Relay. As you can see from the events he is more of a 200M event swimmer rather than a sprinter. Do you expect a runner who trained for an 800m race to suddenly win the 400m? The coach should have put Lezak in the anchor leg not Lochte. Tired Lochte out. Coach should have just let Ryan concentrate on his events.

Phelps qualified for finals in 200 m fly!

who false started? Did it count or did the starter stand them up before they went in the water?

I also don’t understand why Lochte was put in the 4x100 - not his strongest event. Plenty of other guys that might have pulled it off.

That was a hard fought last 50m for Phelps. He’s going to have to really bring it to medal in the finals. I’m really pulling for him!!

I played badminton, racketball, and tennis. I found that the people who talked crap about badminton usually never played the sport at a real court, never saw a competitive match even once, and have no idea how popular it is in Asia and Europe.

looks like Phelps won his heat and is 4th seed into finals. Sometimes heats can lull you to sleep. 4th seed will put him in a good place to see the others.

looking at splits, his 3rd 50 was slow, but the final 50 was solid - only the Austrian in his heat did better (didn’t watch it, just looking online at times)

No it wasn’t xiggi, you came up with that all by yourself. All I said was that it was a very British ceremony and that you probably had to be a Brit to pick up on some of the references (e.g. the television soap EastEnders, the BBC Radio 4 shipping forecast and the radio show the Archers). You purposely misinterpreted what I said and launched into a whiney rant.

You’re clinging at straws now. When I asked you what was wrong with the ceremony you implied it was boring, now it wasn’t passionate enough. You are being overtly negative for the sake of being negative.

The cauldron is where it is because the London games are all about sustainability, what would be the point of building a stadium that could hold a cauldron at the top if it will be rendered useless in two weeks? You don’t appear to have understood the point of the London games at all. You claim to not compare London to Beijing, but I’ve seen you do nothing else.

They were volunteers, not professional dancers because the organisers wanted to include as many people as possible. I thought they did a great job.

I’m not happy about the 100 br :(

Come on, Ariana, you can do it!!!

Where are the results? The “superhuman” 16 yr old from China led heat 2.
