London Olympics 2012 - SPOILER ALERT

I agree about Missy Franklin. She seems like an all around great girl besides a remarkable athlete.

just realized that I can watch events live next week while I’m on vacation via my Dutch company’s server! (wish it was this week for swimming & gymnastics - no real interest here in track).

In another example of class, I enjoyed the post-match interview with Misty May Treanor and Kerri Walsh last night. When the interviewer asked them about a point when they fell behind, Walsh said that she’d made a number of mistakes, and then said that her partner had made some amazing shots. I thought that was nice.

I really hate the interviews of the losing American athletes. I would have much preferred hearing from Agnel than from Lochte last night. It’s as though Lochte owes us an explanation for finishing fourth in the Olympics. I don’t think he does.

Yes, and and old posting styles too. You sounded vaguely familiar and I now recall the discussions about Apple stores in China.

Regarding your lengthy and mostly irrelevant post, I take good note of your criticisms of Leonard and suggest you’d do some digging. As far as CMC, an objective observers might recognize how the falsifications were uncovered, and what were the resulting actions by the officials at CMC. Everything that needed to be said about the details as my wellincluding my position on that matter are easy to retrieve and not worth rehashing in a thread about the Olympics.

Regarding cheating and doping by other countries, how about agreeing that two wrongs do not make one right. How about agreeing that ALL doping and cheating should be condemned and punished. Do you think I would be happy with Phelps and Lochte being caught in a doping scandal?

In the end, organized cheating and the role of government is only cheating the athletes, including the poor souls who are transformed in genetic freaks for the sole purpose their political leaders and coaches.

And as we know, everyone is entitled to an opinion. We can easily check the facts as they happened in the past, and can easily wait for the final analysis. The good news is that the technology and the desire to ferret out the perennial cheats will not regress, and that over time “we” should be able to uncover all the masking and tricks used today.

Any thoughts on gymnastics? Seems like a close competition.

Good Nishikori won.

And Tsonga/Raonic is up to 16-15 games in the last set.

so happy to hear that the US girls are pulling it together…I cannot imagine the psychodynamics going on in their minds and the general sense of pressure.

ps-thanks for updates!

OMG, Nathan!!! :)

““How about agreeing that ALL doping and cheating should be condemned and punished.””

Old posting habits do die hard. You are agreeing only after being cornered. While always eager to jump on merely suspicions of Chinese this and Chinese that, and as much as your claim to be targeting doping overall, how come you don’t jump on a news item like this as well? The article was only 10 days ago.

Cox stripped of relay medal

“American Crystal Cox, who won 4x400m relay gold at the Athens Olympics, has been stripped of her medal.” [Cox stripped of relay medal - Yahoo! Eurosport UK](http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/cox-stripped-relay-medal-141300559.html)

Of course, “the technology and the desire to ferret out the perennial cheats will not regress, and that over time “we” should be able to uncover all the masking and tricks used today.” And it is happening right here.

19-19 games now.

Nathan, good job! Now, just keep your cool and swim your own race!

I’m not sure if I will be able to watch Ariana’s race… Yikes…

The combination of a good day by the U.S. team and many Russian mistakes have pretty much guaranteed the U.S. gymnastics girls a gold. Canada has dropped back, largely because of better performances by Romania and China. Those two are battling for the bronze.

Go, Milos!

21-20

Go TSONGA.

U.S.A. gymnastics girls win gold!

An impressive 5th for our Canadian cousins. :)

Yesssss!!! Awesome job, Team USA!

USA!!!and by more than 5 points!!!

Tsonga blew a match point, 21-21.
