London Olympics 2012 - SPOILER ALERT

I’m finding it awfully hard to avoid having the results spoiled before the evening, since I can’t go hide in a cave.

Women gymnastics final about to begin!

Andy cry

Ellemeope, water polo is a FUN sport to watch - live. I agree, the way NBC covers it… Is not cool.

Gee, and you didn’t stop in and say hello? Yes, lots of excitement and support here for our athletes. Canada’s women are on to the next round in soccer which is very exciting. They are playing better with each game, and Sinclair hasn’t even been at her best, yet.

Two more Canadian bronze medals this morning - diving and judo! Go Canada!

No, you must mean Cuba. Dominican Republic never won an Olympic medal in baseball.

Wonderful 1st rotation for Team USA on Vault. Bars next.

I agree alwaysamom–GO CANADA GO-- or as some are saying GIT IT DONE. I know we are not big contenders in the summer olympics but as a Canadian we just love to see our atheletes compete and have fun. I am so excited for the girls gymnastics team, first time in the running. My wife works with one of the Canadian in the mens double skulls, that is very exciting

I haven’t tried to watch anything live during the day yet - where can we see the gymnastics?

Not sure where you are cartera45 but in Canada we are getting it live on CTV

East Coast - Maryland

Why do the canoes look exactly like kayaks?

I thought NBC’s replay of the French television announcers’ call (scream is a better word) of the men’s swimming relay final as the French team overtook the Americans was entertaining.

percussiondad, it is true, medals are exciting but we are not typically as focussed on them. I am very excited for the women gymnastic team, too (am watching them now!). They are so thrilled to be there. The local connections make it even more fun, as I’m sure you’ll agree. As I mentioned before, we know one of the soccer women well, and the other locals for us are a gymnast and a kayaker, who I often see training nearby.

Another Bronze for Canada - weightlifting.

please update the women’s gymnastics!

cartera what you need to do is get a free Canadaian IP (I have had some for the States) then you can actually watch CTV live on the internet.
alawaysamom–sure the medals are fantastic but I honestly just get excited to watch our atheletes have fun, compete and make us proud. I really enjoy the specials that CTV has on spotlighting atheletes and not even Canadians, did you the one about the boy from Ireland in gymnastics that was told he would be wheelchair bound all his life but refused to to believe that. We get to see some very touching stories about competitors from around the world. BTW that was a dig that we have fantastic coverage of not only the games but also of the human aspect of the games regardless of where they are from. lol

coureur: I think you’re right about Cuba instead of the DR. I stand corrected.

psychmom, halfway through the US team is first, Russia second and Canada third. The U.S.girls look like they’re on fire, based on what I’ve seen.

Wow. I hadn’t even seen that someone responded to my question about the removal of baseball (and softball) from the olympics. Thanks for pulling that up, coureur. Where was that posted?

I saw some of the olympic baseball games (Italy vs Cuba maybe, I forget now) back in 1996. Agree that it isnt mainly/only a US sport.

This thread sure has gotten political. Could we go back to talking about the games?

** edit-- thanks to posters for bringing back the updates. CC is where I go first for my news updates!!

I enjoyed the profile of Missy Franklin last night…she turned down money so she could maintain eligibility for her high school swim team, and she’s kept the same coach she had when she was a little kid. I think that’s great.
