There is alot wrong with the coverage. But the opening ceremonies - my gosh - just stop talking. I needed a mute button just for the commentators!!!

Kinesio tape for therapeutic taping.

But what does THAT mean?

Kleibo, I actually mute my TV and turn the sound on when there’s action on the screen.

@BB - :)

OK … to be fair NBC just did a nice job on the canoe whitewater doubles … Great Britain finished 1st and 2nd (including their first gold) … and NBC did show the runs of the medal hopefuls (no USA and lots of non-USA) and stayed for the athletes and coaches jumping into the water to celebrate with the home crowd … well done.

Yes, Hunt, you are right - it was “jo yo” not “jo ho.”

We do not pay attention to what they are saying, nobody cares…if you are familiar somewhat with the sport, you can only laugh. But they are hired to say something, so they do.

In regrad to openning ceremony, even my kid said, that it was pretty weird. So much money for…political propaganda. Olympics is not the place for it. Oh, well, unfortunately I fell asleep and missed the USA marching and Paul. I wishm they did not have all these garbage propaganda in front, but I do not care one way or another. Couple parts I liked was Liz’s entrance and non-hearing lady playing drums…the rest was not entertaining at all.
…Phelps qualified as second for semis in 100 fly heats.

I hope Gabby’s mother pays back her former gym, if they are owed $20,000 as they claim. Gabby is going to make some good money!

Same thing I noted back in Post #476. I’m surprised there have been no other comments here about it.

But here’s an article explaining what’s supposedly so great about the podium outfits:

<a href=“Why are Team USA medal winners wearing gray on the podium? - Yahoo Sports”>Why are Team USA medal winners wearing gray on the podium? - Yahoo Sports;

Not only did Bob Mathias win the decathlon twice, but even more amazingly he won it the first time when he was only a 17 year old high school kid from California. And he had only been training for it for a short while. His high school track coach noticed that he was good at a lot of different events and suggested he try it. The headlines at the time were along the lines of “The US Sent a Boy and He Beat all the Men.”

Mathias later went to Stanford and eventually served several terms in Congress.

Our women did great on vault. Those two Russian girls have the saddest faces ever.

No matter how gracious Jordan Weiber is being, it must just kill her to see the (relatively) low level of difficulty of the routines of some of the girls in the AA.

Our girls are going to need help from Komova in order to have a shot I think.

Wow, incredible score by the other Russian girl on the bars. I guess it was the level of difficulty of the dismount. I didn’t see anything else that looked particularly unusual.

Exactly. Komova didn’t compete floor in the team final

That is true, but only tells a partial story regarding the name. Ranomi Kromowidjojo is of Javanese descent. Javanese Surinamese were brought by the Dutch colonizers from the former Dutch Indies.

Thanks for the updates. I can’t bear to watch live since I’d have to cover my eyes.

BTW, has anyone seen the tweets from Leyva’s lucky towel? This is the towel of the US bronze-medal winner in men’s gymnastics. They’re pretty funny.

Well, I could add something to the gymnastics conversation if my live feed wasn’t constantly freezing up!!! Grrrrr!!! :mad:

Gabby may have this, barring a big mess up on floor. Raisman almost fell, grabbed the beam. She’s in 5th.
One poor vaulter got a 0. I guess when you come down knees 1st, that’s a 0.

I guess there’s only .326 between 1st and 3rd. Mustafina could still win this. What a World’s Sweetheart she would be!

All-around ranking after 3 events: 1-Douglas 47.199, 2-Komova 46.873, 3-Mustafina 44.966, 4-Deng Linlin 44.466, 5-Raisman 44.433

I would love to see Aly medal, but she’d need catastrophic errors from the ppl in 3rd & 4th. we know she can throw down an amazing floor routine!

Okay, there’s less room between them then I thought. Maybe not catastrophic, but pretty darn big.
