Blue - you can just keep your clutch in the tote!

I don’t need another one . . . I don’t need another one . . . I don’t need another one . . .

^^That’s what I was telling myself when I was standing next to a shelf full of lovely Longchamp totes inside my local Nordie’s (ugh, I had to take DD for her hair appointment at the mall, therefore, I ended up inside the mall!). The bilberry color is TDF! There was a verrry nice pale lilac bag, too!

guys…if you can wait until next summer (yea, I know; delayed gratification) they are usually on the Nordstrom’s sale…

I picked up replacement ones last summer for a song…and these were the expandable ones that have an outside zipper; you can make them a little smaller or actually taller than the large bag in a snap…

Thanks for the tip, rodney! I’ll now keep my eyes peeled for Nordstrom’s sale. I do miss the days when I could get them dirt cheap at Saks, but that was before they became hot.

QLM

I just got a Tumi nylon tote to replace my old laptop briefcase (Coach nylon).
The Longchamp is attractive, but somehow I don’t think of it as being durable enough to hold a laptop and the assorted accoutrements? Am I wrong here and it’s stronger than I think?

Pizzagirl, this is what I got at a local outlet mall to carry my 15" Dell laptop (with a Tumi neoprene laptop envelope that snugly fits inside the bag so the computer always stays in upright position and is easy to get out):

My bag survived a year of daily 2 hr commute on public transportation. Longchamp fabric looks and feels even more durable, so it should work well as a computer bag!

(I cannot believe Burberry hiked the MSRP of that tote by $50 )

IMHO, the Longchamp can hold a laptop occasionally, but I wouldn’t use it specifically for that purpose.

I put my laptop in a neoprene carrier in the tote. There isn’t enough protection with just the tote.

Okay, folks … look what I just found. It’s a Cyber Monday deal at Saks for a Longchamp tote!
Ooh, so tempting.

I ordered one from Bloomingdales today. They had free shipping and $50 off if you spent $250. I found a couple of things my girls wanted and ordered the bag for myself. I will give it to H to give to me! I had the Bilberry in the cart but at the last minute I caved and switched it out to grey. Boring but more me.

Saks already stopped the premotion. I will look for sales after holidays.

Until reading CC, I didn’t have a desire for LC nor Kindle, but now I want both.

“Until reading CC, I didn’t have a desire for LC nor Kindle, but now I want both.”

uh oh…are we promoting your materialistic tendencies? Mr. bookworm will not be pleased with us…

Mom60 - I am sure the grey will be fine. I know you would have loved the bilberry. I am the epitome of boring, but the color is surprisingly neutral. What I like the best, is when I dump a ton of things in the tote, it still looks sleek. Today I had to go to the post office and I had so much stuff in my bag to be mailed, but I still looked pulled together. Ah, illusion.

As to wanting things you never knew about - I agree. You have to be careful. DH and I have worked in education and non-profits, so we are not exactly well off. No complaints, just the facts. I am just hoping that some of the posters are my size (5’ 6" and 118-20, size 7 1/2 - 8 shoe) and offer me their hand me downs!!!

For those of you who want an inside zippered compartment, you should look at the Delfino tote. I bought one about a month ago, and I’m very happy with it. It is a bit smaller than the large Longchamp tote, so if you’re stuffing that one within an inch of its life, the Delfino will be too small for you.

I know we’re not supposed to link to outside sites, but the Delfino stores don’t have a big online presence, for some reason, and people won’t be able to find the bag, so here goes:
[105 Large Tote - delfinoshop.com - New York](<a href=“Packaging Supplies Sydney | Karle Packaging”>Packaging Supplies Sydney | Karle Packaging)

I had the Longchamp tote and really loved it. It’s light and carries a lot. I abused it daily for about five years, until the four bottom corners started fraying. I finally started being embarrassed to be using it in that condition. When I went to the Delfino store near my office to replace the Longchamp, I decided to switch to the Delfino because the corners are reinforced with leather. It’s also fully lined, which the Longchamp is not, and has not only an inside zippered pocket, it also has two open pockets. The outside fabric is very similar to the Longchamp’s, and the top zips close. The Delfino does not fold up, though. Check it out! It might work for you. Mine is black with black trim, but I think I’m going to spring for the wine-colored one next!

^^Nice one, LNM! I like it. My Burberry bag also has a zippered compartment (and a leather bottom which I like) - that’s what sold it to me (and the outlet price was hard to beat).

I saw this at the downtown Nordy’s: [Longchamp ‘Le Pliage Arbre de Vie - Large’ Tote](http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3142385?origin=keywordsearch&resultback=340) It looks way better IRL than in the picture! What a great idea - use of embroidery to spruce up a plain bag. I love the design. (can’t you see I’m online shopping)?

You guys are horrible influences on me! Was at Nordstroms today (and Rack) looking for a new coat (was helping H get our snow thrower down from a platform and ripped the coat I was wearing and not on a seam). Saw the bilberry tote and got it. I only had one LC and it’s become my gym bag (shoes, heart rate monitor and gym membership card), so anytime I needed to use it for hauling my laptop around for work, I’d have to empty everything out and reverse the process when I returned home. So now I’ll use the new one for just the laptop/work stuff and use the other one for my gym bag.

My bag finally arrived today! The drawback to free shipping is that UPS ground seems to go at a snails pace. The grey actually doesn’t look grey at all. The color on the bag wrapper list the color as Slate. It is a more of a dark khaki. Quite nice.

So I’m pretty sure my kids are buying me a LC for Christmas. D1 kept asking me what color I preferred. It was only because of this thread that I had thought about it. D1 has a black and D2 has a bilberry. I like both, but seeing as all of my outfits are black oriented or brown oriented (and camel, ie brown), I think the black/ brown would be better. I love the other colors, but would probably use far less.

I do not know for sure if I am getting a LC. And, if so, what color. But I strongly suspect I am and it will be a black with brown or tan trim.
