Looking for a cozy tv show

@bgbg4us We watched it on HBO GO.

DH and I loved Parenthood; he got me hooked on FNL and I got him hooked on Gilmore Girls! I’m glad to see that folks on the binge watching thread have discovered Nashville. We’re not big country music fans, but the songs, meshed with relationship drama, make the show sweetly cozy.

Call The Midwife
As Time Goes On
Doc Martin

Second the recommendation for Grace and Frankie. Also, you might like Fargo–black humor/crime/mystery. It is inspired by the 1996 Coen Brothers film of the same name. In fact, the Coen brothers are listed as executive producers.

I like the Bosch series too. My only problem is that I have read all of Michael Connolly’s Bosch books and the series story line mixes up parts from different books, which is a minor irritation.

It’s not “cozy” but I’m a huge Scorpion fan. It’s on Monday nights on CBS.

I loved the first Fargo tv series, Billy Bob Thornton is so good. But never got into the other 2 seasons. Not cozy though, it can be disturbing actually.

If you haven’t watched it, Young Victoria is good. They remade Upstairs Downstairs and I liked that. Home Fires lasted 2 seasons and is another Masterpiece Theater show.

Feud is about Bette Davis and Joan Crawford and I liked it.

@Bromfield2 DH gets to be bothered by the changes to the Bosch story, but luckily I don’t.

I’d like to add Murdoch Mysteries. A much less cozy view of the same time period is Ripper Street.

Great thread. Looking for “cozy”'suggestions too. Watched the first episode of " bordertown" - has all the elements I like genius detective, cozy family, well acted set in Finland !
I want to continue but the crimes are off putting. Not suggesting it al all, just saying I’m interested in less violent.

Not a football fan, and delayed watching Friday Night Lights for years. Wow, it is one of best tv shows and the football doesn’t factor in to it being a stellar show!

Miss Fishers Murder Mysteries - charming
Doc Martin- good premise but got old
Good girls revolt - amazon

@rosered55 -

I don’t know that I would call Rizzoli and Isles cozy but I really enjoyed that show as well.

All the talk about FNL, which I couldn’t get into, reminded me of another cozy show starring Kyle Chandler, an oldie but goodie - Early Edition.

I’d recommend Call the Midwives and Victoria, both on PBS.
Not-so-cozy but excellent: Game of Thrones, Catastrophe & The Man in the High Castle. Really good: Outlander and Poldark.

Father Brown- cozy and English

The Durrells of Corfu
Master of None
The Indian Doctor
The A Word
Endeavor

Doc Martin

I second the Durrells of Corfu…quirky and fun, and based on a real family.

Netflix has “Anne,” a remake of the Anne of Green Gables. I didn’t want to like it because I have a loyal love for the original version with Megan Follows, but I really enjoyed it. I found it a little darker and grittier than the former, but still captivating.

When Calls the Heart - a goody two shoes series on Netflix (maybe a Lifetime show) but you don’t feel bad or anxious after watching it.

Love Death in Paradise series.

Started the Ozark Series - Bateman and Linney are good actors but the series is dark and depressing and gets worse with each episode. Language is right out of the White House Communications Dept. Kind of disgusting show.

Anne with an E, Grantchester, Durrell’s of Corfu.
Had a thread for a light summer show and someone recommended Lucifer - it’s more of a comedy where the (handsome) devil decides to take a vacation from hell and chooses LA (if you smile, you get the humor). However, puzzled by a detective who seems undisturbed by his wily charms and his habit of punishing bad people. His big brother tries to convince him otherwise. It’s a bit like Castle but with a more powerful, self involved main character who also happens to be clueless about human things like feelings, propriety, politeness, etc.

I loved The Wonder Years. I also liked Bosch. Did anyone mention To The end of the Earth?

I don’t have Netflix, Amazon Prime or cable and I have to confess that I have never heard of half of these shows.
