Looking For A New Coffee Maker

The water draws from the reservoir in the back of the machine so I don’t think there is a way to make a smaller amount.

But I will share if I see it at a good price!

A few years ago, my son bought me the Nespresso machine, with milk frosted. It use pods, which are not so easy to find. But I like my 1 1/2 cup in morning, so,I use my Mr Coffee daily.

I like my Nespresso also. I like that they have a 5 oz size. And that the pods are recyclable

I’m not sure which Nespresso machine you are using but one of the newer ones - The Vertuo Line Plus - has 4 sizes of pods. A single and a double shot espresso pod, and an 8 and 14 ounce cup of coffee pod.

To most locations, Nespresso has 48 hour shipping. I happen to live in a location where if I order pods by a certain time I get them the next day. You can also set up an account to have automatic shipments sent.

The last time I was at Trader Joe’s they had “bootleg” pods.

Breville now makes Nespresso licensed machines too. I saw them at BB&B.

Nespresso says their pods can be recycled, but if you’re not sure, you can send them back in prepaid envelopes for them to recycle. I’ve also seen reusable pods on eBay, but I can’t imagine filling them and using them!

Well I have been watching for the Gourmia maker I purchased to go on sale on Amazon because my D1 wants one - now it appears they are out of them!

But I did notice this one on Amazon Deal of The Day today - not as sleek as mine and more traditional in size of coffee output BUT wow wireless? Start your coffee from an app while still in bed or ask your Alexia device to start it? Built in bean grinder too. The reviews are a little confusing - don’t all seem to be for this actual product.

The Gourmia is back on Amazon at $105. I bought this coffee maker for my daughter for her birthday and she really likes it.

Is there a specific coffee maker that folks would recommend for someone who likes to drink iced coffee all the time? A single cup version is good enough - no need for a pot.

I make cold press coffee in a french press. It’s very simple!

Somebody mentioned the Cuisinart coffee maker previously. Costco will have it on sale Nov. 6 - 15th for $44.99 which is $15 off.

^^That’s a very good deal. I had considered that one.

If anyone is still thinking about the Gourmia coffee maker I previously purchased and we talked about a good bit on here, it is on sale for $99.99. today. D1’s 30th is this weekend and I was going to consider getting her a simple piece of jewelry for it - but this was on her birthday-Christmas list so she is going to get a beautiful shiny coffee maker instead - I honestly think she’ll be just as excited!!

I used some of my Amazon Prime points to get the price down even more - and went ahead and bought a 3 year warranty for under $5.

The Gourmia machine is about $85 today.

You might consider using a cold-brew maker. It takes longer but you can make several cups at once and just refrigerate.

This is what my D uses and only costs $20. No hot water needed - just add coffee and water and let sit out on the counter overnight. Cold brewed coffee is a bit milder, sweeter, and less acidic than hot-brewed. Since there’s no volatile compounds from hot-brewing, the quality of the coffee doesn’t degrade when you let it sit for a few days (assuming you store it in an airtight container so it doesn’t pick up refrigerator odors).

I know it is not what the OP wants but Nespresso is exceptional. It yields a good coffee house espresso or latte. The only defect is it is hard to find pods (one Macy’s home that is 30 minutes away). Pods can be mail ordered though. I live in Seattle and go to Italy frequently so definitely a coffee snob.

I just ordered Lavazza pods that apparently work with Nespresso. Will let you know how compatible they are in a couple of days.

Looks like that Gourmia is 84.99 today on Amazon and with Prime, so free shipping.

^^^ I’ve already bought two (one for myself and one for my daughter) but the price drop makes me feel like I should jump and buy another! It’s been as high as $149 so that’s a good price. I pulled the trigger at $99 for D a couple weeks ago.
