I am looking for sheets that fit well, are cool and retain their shape. I don’t care for the sateen or micro fiber textures. Any ideas?
I’ve had good luck finding cotton sheets at Ross, at huge discounts. So far they’ve lasted and kept their shape, though none are more than a few years old. My D is looking for some to take to college next year, and Pottery Barn has 100%
cotton. They’re pricey, and I can’t vouch for the quality, but there’s a large selections.
Try the Vermont Country Store.
I am looking for the same thing and struggling to find something nice. I like my sheets to feel crisp while also having a good thread count. Like an old fashioned percale sheet. My mother sent me some Martha Stewart percale sheets for Christmas and they were awful. So thin you could see your hand right through them and not at all crisp. I exchanged them at Macy’s for their 500 count Hotel sheets but haven’t used them yet. My hometown Macy’s is so disorganized and has the worst help so I wasn’t able to get any good assistance or feel actual samples of their sheets. They told me that they used to have a hanger with pillowcases from all the Hotel styles so you could feel the difference. But they threw it away! I’m in another state now so am hoping to get better advice at the Macy’s here.
I’m also fond of Ross. Costco has some, but not our size–full.
Where is @JustaMom5465 ?
The best are the Wamsutta sheets…I can’t remember the specific name. They are crisp and cool and remain so. I love them! Available at BBB. Expensive but well worth it!
I bought some sheets from Macys a year ago. The pillow cases get washed more than the sheets and I can already see a difference in color between the two. The pillow cases are lighter after washing. (beige color)
The hotel collection is supposed to be nice at Macys but expensive. I heard Egyptian cotton sheets are nice.
I have found that the Fieldcrest luxury brand at Target are nice. They have elastic all around the fitted sheet which helps keeping the shape. They also washed up nicely and become softer and more comfortable the more they are washed.
I knew that I could count on all of you to offer suggestions. I will try Ross, @HImom, do you know which brand it is? Our local Macy’s is also a mess, surprised that it is not one of the ones that they are closing. There is also a BBB that I will check out. @Mansfield, do you have the sheets from the Vermont Country Store? The reviews seem to be at both ends of the spectrum.
@ECmotherx2, I have the sheets (they’re the only ones I can buy that fit my thinner mattress). I just read the reviews. Yes, they can be a little stiff and scratchy (like they had been hanging on the clothesline in the fresh air). They are also thick and cool. I like them and they wear very well. However…sheet preference is a personal thing.
Another consideration is the length of the fitted top sheet. Some do not tuck in well at the bottom- they come untucked with sleeping movement. I wish they made them wider for the thicker mattresses, sigh.
If there are no display sheets I would open a package to feel the sheets and compare.
I also like crisp cotton percale sheets. I strongly dislike sateen.
I am currently using sheets from The Hotel Collection from Macy’s. Use a coupon if you buy them. My previous set was from Garnet Hill.I liked them but I felt that they didn’t last as long as I felt they should for the price.
I have not had any luck with the sheets I’ve found at Ross. The sets I’ve bought in both queen and Ca King have piled pretty quickly. I have had decent luck at Ross for full and twin size.
For my guest bedroom I have Supina cotton sheets Krikland brand from Costco. They are a great sheet for the price. They might be sateen but feel crisp for a sateen sheet.
My next purchase might be Pima cotton percale sheets from LL Bean. My friend told me she read a review that highly recommended them.
1 issue I have with buying at places like Costco or Ross is that with the Ca King sets you get the larger pillowcase. We use standard pillows so the cases are too long.
I just look for 100% cotton with higher thread counts. Sometimes on sale, Macy’s has some great prices too. I hate polyester in sheets–way too hot in HI. I’ve bought many different brands and they’ve all held up well. The higher thread counts tend to be the softest to us.
Some of the best sheets I have ever bought were from a Ralph Lauren Polo outlet.
Macy’s has tips for buying the sheets on their website and depending on the material recommends specific brands. Click on expand for detail.

I went to BBB and asked if they had any sheets that wrinkle. They sold me some awesome, crisp, cotton percale sheets. Don’t remember the brand, but if you ask for sheets that wrinkle, you’ll get what you’re looking for.
Here’s a thread from a while back…
Hudson Park brand sold at Bloomingdales are very nice - a little heavier weight, smooth, and they wash well. I usually buy Sferra or Frette, and these are actually a little nicer and much less expensive.
I recommend that you check out Parachute. They sell quality sheets online only. http://www.parachutehome.com/
Nordstrom had nice sheets at their anniversary sale, and I think they were on sale again after Christmas. They were cotton, but not a really night thread count. They definitely wrinkle, which not everyone likes.
