Looking for soft, cotton sheets for my own bed

The Home Goods sheets I referred to above are 100% cotton. That is all I will buy.

I am nostalgic for the old Charisma sheets. I used mine until the bottom sheet shredded. But they lasted longer than the ones I’ve bought in recent years.

Well, IKEA has soft sheets, lol. Dont hold up, thin, but soft. And you can feel the different ones on a demo rack. I dont recommend them.

I miss the Eddie Bauer sheets. We have some that are 25 years old.

I bought llbean’s sheets for son’s room. He has twin size Flannel, sateen and recently parcale. I don’t think any of them is comparable to Boll and Branch in terms of softness.

We still have some llbean flannel sheets we bought on our honeymoon over 3 decades ago—still very soft.

There are different levels of LL Bean sheets so they all aren’t comparable. But I haven’t tried Boll and Branch. I’ll have to try them next time I need sheets.

I do have some Frette that I bought on sale. They are nice.

I’ve never cared for flannel sheets. I like the smooth, cool feel of regular sheets.

^^Can’t stand flannel, fleece, or any tech fabric sheets. It is funny that I am ok with those fabrics for my nightgowns or pj, but not sheets. 100% cotton is what I like to sleep on. I bought some Westin heavenly bed comforter covers… they were nice. I wanted to try their sheets but Nordstrom stopped selling them. The plan was to take the sheets back if I did not like them.

Really good advice!

BB, flannels are 100% cotton or can be. I love flannel sheets in winter. Not cold when you get in.

We only get 100% cotton flannel sheets and love them—online or as a light extra layer when the weather starts getting cooler.

That is not a mistake. I know that flannel is 100% cotton - I just can’t stand sheets with any texture which flannel has. Ditto fleece and fabric blends (even if blends pretend to be crisp).

I can’t stand flannel sheets…because I wear flannel PJs in the winter. It’s like I’m a piece on a school flannel board. Awful.

Well, after reading reviews at The Company Store, LL Bean, Garnet Hill and elsewhere (focusing on the bad reviews), I decided to take a chance with Boll & Branch.

Including sales tax, they were about $200 for a queen set, which is about $40 more than the last set of sheets I bought (from Garnet Hill, organic percale, which my husband describes as being like canvas).

The Boll & Branch sheets are soft, but shinier than I would like.

They are indeed softer than the percale I’ve purchased in recent years (which didn’t soften properly with washing), but still not my ideal.

I guess I’ll keep them.

(just occurred to me I should post this review on Boll & Branch as well - Boll & Branch is a bit too self-congratulatory on their website – as I recall, they didn’t have anything but five star reviews posted.)

Returned to this post to add – I was unable to find a way to add a review at the Boll & Branch website, so I am highly skeptical that they provide a means to post less than enthusiastic feedback.

Anyone try Redland Cotton. I hear that advertised on the radio. I really prefer to feel my sheets before I buy.

@fendrock - thank you for the unbiased review. This is one of the reasons I stick around the Cafe! No Boll and Branch for me, not at that price. There are companies that monitor reviews for you and ā€œcleanseā€ the bad ones (3 stars and under) off the usual review sites.

I have been happy with sheets we’ve acquired from Ross, Sam’s Club and Macy’s. We only like 100% cotton and have varying thread counts. Costco doesn’t carry the full size sheets so we don’t buy from them.

Yeah, I’d be suspicious if any site that has glowing reviews but doesn’t allow you to add your comments!

Sorry you have had challenges finding sheets you enjoy. So far, have been pretty happy with those we’ve acquired.

I just bought three sets of sheets. One for our new mattress, one for our bed in guest room and one for D2. They are all 1000 thread count, 100 percent certified Egyptian cotton. I love them. Thick and soft and not sateen. I feel like I am climbing into a fresh made bed every night, which I am not.

They were between $130-150 including tax. I bought different sizes. I got them from Macy’s on sale. The Company Store didnt have as good a choice.

You also should consider durability. I did research a few months ago when my sheets wore out where my feet were. Discovered long fiber cotton is best- supima for US grown- and sateen weave worst for this. Caught the 70% off sale for Macy’s Damask sheets and will have to wait more than a couple of years for the durability factor.

If anyone does go with Boll & Branch, be sure you Google for coupons. I did for mine (which I really like), and got something like $50 off the list price.

The $200 I paid for the Boll & Branch sheets reflects use of a $50 off coupon.
