Looking for soft, cotton sheets for my own bed

We liked the Damask sheets we bought at Macy’s, but they started falling apart 2 years later. We replaced them with sheets from BB&B (I think Wamsutta) - they’ve held up, but arent’s as soft.

Maybe it’s me…but I like to get new sheets longer than in my lifetime. I will say, I do miss the Wamsutta line that was sold at BBB @JustaMom5465 put me onto those on an older thread, but that was a while ago…and the two sets I bought are no longer here.

I actually have gotten some very nice, soft, 100% cotton, and they didn’t pill, sheets from Target. Prices were reasonable enough, and when I wanted to get new ones, I didn’t feel like I shouldn’t because the previous set was $200 or more.

I always get an extra set of pillow cases…because those look bad first!

I also miss the Wamsutta at BB&B. Sometimes I am lucky enough to find a set here and there but haven’t found any this past year.

@ECmotherx2 yep…they aren’t making those really nice ones anymore!

Wamsutta 700/1000. Amazing silky sheets. The best. Every time we have company that’s the first thing they mention how wonderful the sheets are. It’s funny because it’s the same thing everyone says when the stay over! Unfortunately They are expensive but so worth it.

@newjersey17 We’ve bought several sets of those Wamsutta sheets over the past 4 years. They’ve always been amazing but the set we bought last year was significantly lower quality than previously. I’m really bummed because it’s really hard (impossible) to find a manufacturer that maintains the same level of quality over time.

The latest one isn’t terrible, but certainly isn’t nearly as nice as the older sets.

@anomander

Wamsutta changed their line of sheets. They used to have this fabulous sheet that was 100% cotton, soft but with a crisp feel to it. That’s the one I’m missing (shout out to @JustaMom5465 ).

The newer Wamsutta line is that soft, slippery stuff just a step up from sateen (which I personally can’t stand).

BBB still carries a number of Wamsutta varieties. DD got some as wedding gifts…but they just aren’t the same.

An update…

After less than 60 days of use, the Boll & Branch sheets started showing signs of pilling.

I returned them for a full refund (they even paid for return shipping).

I’ve now decided to just try some sheets from Target. $45 for the set. 100% cotton.

I have 2 sets of the fieldcrest sheets from target. I’m really happy with them, no pilling. I do think that they get softer after a few weeks of sleeping on them but they were still pretty soft when I first got them.

I like the striped ones a tiny bit better than the not striped ones

@fendrock hope the Target sheets work out.

If not, try Company Store.

@thumper1 We have tried sheets from the Company Store.

These are the ones my husband found to be like canvas.

Boll and branch. I’ve had mine for 3 years and they are incredibly soft. However there was a break in period.

Still super happy with my LL Bean sheets. Zero signs of aging/wear but they get softer with each wash. Every bed in our house has them now and we just talked about buying some more.

LL Bean is having a 20% off sale which ends tomorrow.

We are testing 800 Hotel sheets from Costco. Initial reaction - wow, they are thick and crispy. Which is what I like. I am sure the starchy feel will be gone after a few washes… I will keep you posted.

Wife just bought new sheets at Target (last night was first night sleeping on them - they are great) to replace her favorite set of sheets, also from Target, that just finally wore out. I think they are 300 count.

Just checked. Pretty sure these are them:
Organic Cotton Printed Sheet Set 300 Thread Count - Threshold™

@NJres Mine are the “Performance” (?!) sheets.

They are 400 count.

I bought new sheets for a vacation home last year and I’ve really been pleased. They were from an online company called Brooklinen. I got a gray dot pattern–which it looks like they don’t sell anymore. They were part of the core-set.

The Brooklinen prices look reasonable, I may need to try these sheets.

Not sure if this company has been mentioned yet.

Too spendy for my budget, but boy, those sheets look lux.
