My school has a program where you can leave for a period every day to go to work, do an independent study project, or volunteer for half-credit per semester. (I work at McDonald’s so I’d probably just see if I could get some hours there at around that time.) You don’t have to do this activity every day but you can still leave school. I think you have to turn in logs and an essay at the end.
My school has block scheduling and the open space in my schedule is the last period of the day, so for the second semester I could leave around 1:15 every day.
Would doing this in any way look bad to colleges?
My only other option is taking World Geography, which is an elective. I’ve fulfilled all my social studies requirements.

Not as long as you use the time productively, ie. work instead of play videogames.
