<p>My prediction: Rose and Bernard will have a key role in the final episodes.
We know that they are on the island, but the writers have sort of ignored them – this seems like the slight of hand that mystery writers like to use. Also, we just got a glimpse of Bernard in the “sideways” world.</p>
<p>Well, it seems we are all in agreement about last night’s episode. Allison Janney was a distraction for me as well. I love her, but her voice, her manner is just too tied to West Wing to see her in this role. </p>
<p>Way too much time to develop this story with so little time left. I was so frustrated last week when Sayid showed a glimpse of his old self and then just as quickly, he was gone. I found myself thinking, “Did he just die? Oops, can’t think about that, poor Sun is trapped.”</p>
<p>It was odd. </p>
<p>Oh, dear. I guess we will just have to wait and know we will never really be satisfied - because the only thing that would make us happy is one more season!!!</p>
<p>Yes, Sayid’s sacrifice was certainly rushed and we never quite grasped what turned him from the dark side - it was all bam bam bam for him and Frank, then floaty dragged out for Jin and Sun. We also saw Rose in the AU - she was head of the temp agency that Hugo sent Locke to after meeting in the parking lot. I was hoping last night that we would find out how Ben, Richard, and Miles were doing on the Island since we haven’t seen them lately. Kept waiting for that airplane engine transition sound but it didn’t come until almost the end - and then, yeah, yeah, we get it - you solved Adam and Eve. Check mark. Now the other 900 pending questions…</p>
<p>My favorite episode this last Lost season is still the one with Desmond. He’s so great. I was hoping the rest of the season would continue at that level.</p>
<p>At this point there are arguments for almost anyone being the key - but I’m still putting my money on Desmond. Or Vincent. :p</p>
<p>Was it mentioned on this thread about Sawyer’s “son of a b****” montage? It’s on You Tube and made me chuckle. I suppose I can play that when the season is over.</p>

<p>Ok, it is awfully quiet out there re the finale. I think it had been predicted pretty well but still wrapped up most things.</p>

<p>Our family went to sleep thinking we wasted six years and now realized that we were completely off with last night’s episode…regardless, it was a great ride…lots of crying here last night (for a number of reasons related and unrelated to the actual finale)</p>
<p>^rodney-I am saddened to hear that your family was crying for reasons not related to LOST. Totally none of my business, and not prying. I simply wanted to offer my wishes for peace to your family, whatever the reason.</p>
<p>We were not overly thrilled by the finale. I was move emotionally. On that level, I was very satisfied. The entire family watches, but I am the hardcore fan. I loved the mythology, the journey of picking apart clues and easter eggs. I had a strong feeling that Darlton were going to give us the LOST ending they wanted, as opposed to an ending that the most devoted fans would dig into. I was not thrilled on that aspect. I wasn’t expecting every answer. I can’t even point to a single question right now that I wanted answered last night. I simply wanted something more in keeping with the genre of LOST I have come to appreciate and love. This last season Darlton continued to tell us ‘At it’s core LOST is a story of redemption.’. True, but you can’t ignore the fact that for 6 years we have watched smoke monsters, time travel, people who do not age, and a disappearing island that whispers. Oh, and has polar bears in the jungle. It’s hard to escape that when you are telling that story of redemption. In my opinion the finale ditched the former for the latter.</p>
<p>It’s funny. I watched Lost religiously its first season, got bored with it halfway through the second, tried and failed to pick it up again in the third, and have watched maybe 20 minutes of it since. Reading this thread, I recognize names and concepts, and absolutely nothing else makes any sense at all. Like, um, the show.</p>
<p>I was surprised how vested I became in a tv show. I don’t want to do that again for a long time.</p>
<p>I loved the show. I enjoyed the finale. I found the ending slightly disturbing…but that is the way it goes.</p>
<p>I thought the acting was superb throughout the series. I thought Michael Fox did a fantastic, fantastic job.</p>
<p>I didn’t expect answers for everything. The show was never about answers anyway.</p>

<p>Six years ago in the middle of the pilot, I turned to dh and said, “they’re in purgatory.” While there’s a little room for interpretation, I still think that’s the case and think it’s the only thing that would have made sense. </p>
<p>All the crazy hatch stuff and polar bears, etc., is just like the weird stuff that pops up in dreams – only tangentially related to anything though representative of larger issues such as fear, uncertainty. I watched religiously the first three seasons, started to lose some interest in season 4, barely watched season 5 and came back a bit this season, especially toward the end because I wanted to feel vested when it got wrapped up. Ultimately, Americans want a feel-good ending, and they delivered. </p>
<p>I thought it was appropriate that Ben didn’t go in the church because he “had things he still needed to resolve” as he was the most complex character in the show and leaves us rooting for him to work it all out and find redemption.</p>
<p>I was also happy to see Ben stay out…Ben is a great character…</p>
<p>Very emotional ending. I too was an on again , off again watcher so was surprised at how emotional I was by the whole thing at the end!</p>
<p>I also was quite emotional. The rest of my family watched in the living room, but I holed up in my bedroom because I really needed to pay attention to stay on top of it and because I knew I’d cry.</p>
<p>It’s interesting for this non-Lost watcher to read your impressions. I got burned by X-Files years ago and vowed never to watch any “mythology” type show again. Lost too many brain cells trying to make that one make sense.</p>
<p>Regardless, I can see how this one could be attractive and glad to see it was worthwhile to most viewers.</p>
<p>garland, I think part of the reason I loved the ending is because I had dipped in and out of it. The last few shows were like getting reacquainted with old friends, and I was just happy to see that they were happy. I wasn’t one of the uber-rabid fans who read blogs and such and so who maybe had higher hopes for the ending, if that makes sense.</p>

<p>Agreed. There were many people saying that back when. That said, I can understand those Lost fans that were disappointed in a story that turned out just to be purgatory or a form of purgatory/stages of post-death. I guess you can give the screenwriters a free pass for trying out some different ideas early on but recent episode Across The Sea is nothing but a big ‘screw-you’ to the fans. What I mean by that is giving a history to an island that isn’t real is pretty much just a backward slap in the face to the Lost fans. </p>
<p>If we agree there is no island (in reality) the more interesting question becomes was there a Flight 815? </p>
<p>The pro-side to a Flight 815 (as reality) is that it makes it a bit more straight-forward i.e. this is where they died and this is where the post-death story picks up. The downside to this we had ‘survivors’ (such as the one sucked into the aircraft engine). Sure they were already dead but what happened to their stage in purgatory on the island? Another element is that we later pick up ‘survivors’ from the tail section of the aircraft. How do you pick up survivors that are already dead? </p>
<p>Another viewpoint is that there was no original Flight 815 (in reality). Flights to and from the island and off-island story-lines just represent post-death stages just like everything else we see. They just don’t know they are dead.</p>
<p>IMHO, flt 815 was real, it did crash, and they did survive. The experiences they had were real. The alt universe, or flash-sideways that were seen in S6 were what Christian (Jack’s dad) was referring to as the ‘waiting room’ or purgatory. When Jack died on the island (eye closing) he ended up in the alt reality where he united with the other survivors. Christian said some had died before him (Sun, Jin, Boone), and some long after (Kate, Sawyer who did make it off the island on the ajira plane w/ Miles, Lapidus, & Richard). They went on to live their lives, however long, and then they went to the ‘waiting room’ or alt universe to be reunited. When Kate sees Jack she says she has missed him in a way that she had waited a lifetime to see him. There is also an exchange between Hurley & Ben outside the church saying ‘You were a great #2’…‘You were a great #1’. This leads me to believe that they went on to live on the island (however long) to protect it, working together…there seemed to be history in that statement.
Now that I have just ‘outed’ myself as a rabid fan… 
It is simply my opinion, there are gaps and flaws, I know. In some of this, no matter what theory you choose to go with, you simply have to take a leap and accept that some things just aren’t going to add up.</p>
<p>A lot of the time I just didn’t think to much about the plots…too much laundry to do and life to attend to. But I did enjoy the ride.

<p>Like I said…I enjoyed the ride. Which is what a dramatic made up TV show should provide me with…entertainment with which I can escape the laundry.</p>

So was there a glitch from about noon til 6, or were they zapped for a reason? If they were zapped for a reason, could a mod please let us know why so we can avoid it in the future?
