have a friend buy a reloaded gift card like visa. Once she registers it online, you should be able to load more money on it for her till she gets a replacement.
Have you called USAA? We bank with them too and they were very helpful when my son lost his wallet in Hong Kong. They got him a card within a couple of days all the way in Hong Kong.
What did USAA say?
Is there anywhere on campus where you can send money, even if its just campus cash to tide her over?
Can you have a duplicate ID sent to her?
My daughter had two friends that this happened to - both times they borrowed money from their friends. Good advice to all students is to not keep everything in your wallet (or in one place) My daughter always keeps an emergency $20 in her room (and another emergency $20 with her ID card.) She does not carry her wallet/purse on campus (only her ID case). Keep one ID card in your room (passport?) - in case your school ID or driver’s licence is stolen.
I recently learned that you can wire $, walmart to walmart (a 10 minute transaction). You are given a reference # which you give to the pick-up person. What I don’t know is if ID is required on the other end.
She has a student id, not sure if that is valid enough. The solution for now is to find a friend with paypal. If that doesn’t work we’ll do the Walmart thing. The cards haven’t been used so I told her to give it a day and retrace steps and check lost and found. We’re going next weekend so we’ll bring her passport. She’ll have to call the bank to get a new card. I don’t know why she even carries her wallet around on campus.
If she has not cancelled the lost cards yet… She at the very least needs to put some sort of a hold on the cards so no one can use them. Especially if it is a debit card!
3 days really? My DD had her purse stolen in South America last month. We wired her money and she was able to pick it up within the hour. We just showed up in person and gave them cash or a debit card. As to the ID, we used a code word which was my middle name and she needs to know the number of the transaction. She had no ID.
If your daughter lives on campus, it seems she might not need cash money (as we call it in my family) until you get there. I’d focus on deciding whether to cancel the cards.
If she is on a meal plan, seems like she could go without money for awhile. She could also do the Venmo thing…don’t know how it works, but my son is constantly loaning people money that way. Seems as if she could borrow money from a friend, and if they’re antsy about it, you could put money into their Venmo or PayPal account. Or she could talk to her RA, or you could overnight FedEx her whatever she needs.
Another Venmo thumbs up, my college son and his roommates Venmo each other money all the time. I see the dollars go back and forth because his debit card is linked to our account so I can get him money if he needs it. But I’m guessing if she’s on a mealplan she won’t need cash for at least several days. Many colleges also have a College Bucks type thing where you load up their ID card and they can use it off campus at certain stores, etc. YMMV depending on which college and town she’s in.
Does she have any credit cards ? My husband was robbed put of the country a few years back and his credit card company came through in in more ways than one

Yes, definitely something to look into. You said she still has her school ID. I think there’s a way I can load a bunch of money onto my kids account, and he just swipes his college ID to buy things on campus.
