Love/Hate relationship with Amazon!

We were allowed to keep the fake/counterfeit product from eBay but did return one when the seller was belligerent that his product was NOT fake (even though it clearly was a different shade of ink than the genuine ones sold from the manufacturer). We always got a full refund and sometimes the sellers were banned and other times they kept selling their junk merchandise but we steered clear.

We have never had to return a fake item to Amazon.

So that the fake item would not be passed down to someone and continue to circulate around.

We are on vacation at the beach. We visited friends who live quite far from here who are also on vacation. They got a photo of an Amazon delivery to their home which they won’t be at until October. Package delivered to their front porch.

They didn’t order anything

Our next-door neighbor’s very heavy printer was delivered to our house while we were on vacation. Saw it on our Ring doorbell. I knew we hadn’t ordered anything and decided we’d sort it when we came home in a couple of days. Poor lady figured it out and had to drag it home. Many of my deliveries have gone to her house, but I can tell by the delivery photo where it is.

I printed the label And took it to UPS. Not sure why they wanted it back, but it’s on its way.

I read somewhere that there is some sort of scam that involves unordered items. ( Amazon is not part of it). I can’t find the information right now.

Good point

I suspect more likely is that Amazon delivered to a wrong address. The person making the order could have had a typo, or the delivery driver could have made an error. Once in awhile, this happens to me. I might get a delivery intended for the neighbor across the street. Once I received a delivery for an address that shared my street number, but not my street name (next street over, on same route). From time to time someone on Nextdoor in my neighborhood will post an Amazon delivery picture for their missing package and ask if anyone recognizes that door/entrance.

Another possibility is a forgotten subscribe and save order, that gets shipped each x months.

If the home owners aren’t going to be back until October, I expect they have someone who can check on the house. If so, that person might review the name and address on the package.

Our local FB groups have dozens of these Amazon packages delivered to the wrong place every week. And I love in a small town. Pictures are posted of the front porch of the wrong house
that the person gets sent to them by the Amazon driver.

Then it’s up to the person to hunt down their package

Or folks saying
”I received a package for so and so. If you know them, have them message me”. Again
happens a lot.

Seems like this is happening more often
probably because more Amazon orders are being done.

But come on
if you can’t read an address
you shouldn’t be working delivering for Amazon. And in these cases, the name and address are accurate, but the driver delivered to the wrong place.

I have had several packages misdelivered, both by UPS and Amazon. Fedex seems to be, at least in my area, a little bit better. Interestingly, UPS is able to Geo-locate the package. One package that was meant for me ended up over 1000 yards away somewhere else in our neighborhood. When I went to track it down, it wasn’t where the agent on the phone said it was and when I waved down the UPS truck driver, he was abusive. That was fun. Not

Some postal people (like they work for a postal service ) have said that wrong deliveries are most often within 3-5 houses away from where it is supposed to be delivered.

Yesterday, I had a large USPS envelope misdelivered to our house. It was same street, same last name but different address. We are XX56 and they are YY09. I walked the envelope over to their house, range doorbell and since no one answered, left it on front porch.

Our misdelivered packages mostly end up next door (only direct neighbor), but sometimes at a similarly named street in our neighborhood with the same street number.

I do miss our USPS carrier who recently retired after decades taking care of our ‘hood. He knew who was home during the day and would always come up to the door.

The worst was a FedEx delivery of my medical equipment to the wrong address, a block from our home. The owner was home and said it was wrong address but driver took off and claimed I signed and forged my signature. Fortunately recipient called FedEx and complained and gave her address so I could retrieve it (she could have brought it to me but at least this was 2nd best). It wasn’t Amazon, but definitely an mis-delivery, fraud, forgery and worse. The sender was just glad I got the package as he said he has lost thousands of dollars of merchandise from misdeliveries where no one knows who actually got the package (or it was stolen). I guess he makes an insurance claim and has to mail another package, but sheesh!

I can’t say I love Amazon, and limit my use to the extent possible, but have to admit it is very handy at time. We have prime, shared within the family. I was concerned when I read that article about Prime sharing. One of our kids uses our account but has their own card and shipping address. I don’t think that will change. We can see all their purchases.

I use Amazon very little but sometimes it is the best option. Was just looking for a very small rolling suitcase for a trip and could not find in a store.

There is a bit of an ongoing disagreement in one of my book clubs. We try to stick to paperbacks for cost and library availability. We order as a group from the local bookstore. However, there are a few members who always talk about how Amazon has the book at a lower price. The local bookstore gives us a 20% discount. Most of us prefer to support the local store.

Not always easy to shop local and avoid big box stores. For clothes, I almost always want to try things on so shop in stores.

I use B&N and mostly the libby app for ebooks. Just wish B&N had a better ereader. So excited that a new B&N is opening nearby. Although apparently no Cafe in the newer stores.

I also try to support my local garden center rather than Home Depot for plants and pay more for our Christmas tree to support them staying business. However, I do buy other things from Home Depot as well as our nearby Ace hardware.

Whoa – Does this mean I can’t ship to myself at a different location? Have done this many times when getting something I need while I’m at my dad’s in GA or at S1’s in CA and I flew there so I couldn’t pack it.

No, you will still be able to do this:
