Hello, is there any chance for UVA with a weighted GPA 3.87, and unweighted GPA 3.33 ? Good ECs and test scores over all (SAT 1 = 1570, SAT 2 Math = 800, SAT 2 Chem = 720), 8 AP classes by end of junior year - with all 5s and 4s.
AP classes taken: AP Calc AB, AP CS, AP Chem, AP Physics, AP Econ, AP Lang, AP USH, AP World.
Will be taking 5 APs in senior year.
Will the low GPA making unrealistic to apply to UVA ? Will it help to apply Early Action ?
So Early action doesn’t really help or hurt you too much, as there’s not much of a benefit to colleges that early decision gives them. Your sat is really great, same with your ap scores, which should be enough to get you in. Your gpa is on the low side but its definitely compensated for by the sheer number of aps you’re taking. Definitely not unrealistic to apply, I would say you have a great shot!
@htimy2015 : Are you in-state or out of state? If in-state, your GPA should put you in the top 10% of your class to have a reasonable shot at admission. Out of state is more competitive.
@Muad_dib We are in-state. The school doesn’t rank so I’m not sure how to find out about the top 10% of the class. .
But UVA is top choice so hopefully will work out.
@“Dean J” Thank you for sending the blogs. They are really helpful.
