Flat out my GPA 1.7 (yes I know its bad) All though HS and a fist semesters of college I had to deal with my drug addict mother and help my little brother. Some days I just had no ride to school. Obviously I had extreme depression and anxiety. I was in and out of houses. etc. I ended up living with my Nanna. I became very very very depressed, My dad committed suicide, moms back in jail for drugs, and my brother started doing drugs. I just have a very interesting life. I honestly couldnt focus on school. But im doing great now! A’s and B’s in college. Is there anyway I can enlighten UCF of my life history? Because I was on honor roll in middle school and student of the month all the time and I got a leadership award. Im a great student I just was in a bad life. UCF is my dream college and I dont want to wait till im 21 to apply bc I need a 3.5 GPA. I believe after my classes I should have a 2.3+ and then Im taking more classes and they should bring it up to 2.7+. Im a female, 20, live with grandparents, have over 2,000 hrs in community service.
There is a small essay section in the UCF application that allows you to discuss several topics, including hurdles you have experienced in life. I personally have had a rough family situation throughout high school as well, and ended with a 2.9 GPA. Keep working on bringing your GPA up! UCF is pretty lenient with acceptances, and it will be even easier to be accepted if you have finished (or will be finishing) your AA degree. Good luck!
