I’m going to be a transfer student.

My first sem results are just out, I got a B- in one Science course.
I feel it might hurt my app.

I can’t take AP exam & send the scores to MIT to prove that I can score better on that subject, as the AP’s will be in May which would be beyond deadlines, so I have decided I will take the CLEP exams.

So my question here is if I score say very well in the CLEP & send those scores in, does this benefit me in anyway ?

I don’t think that would be of much help. As far as I know some schools including MIT gives little importance to CLEP/AP when it comes to Transfer admissions compared to the college GPA and standardized scores. The admission officers are likely to consider your college GPA to find out how you can exhaust the resources there at MIT in your final years. Thus getting a B in one of your semester would prove to be a setback as the Transfer Admissions is much more competitive than freshman admissions. Still good luck for your CLEP!

So giving a CLEP & doing well on that doesn’t help at all ?
I thought it was effective, :(

Hmm…
There’s a significant difference between that thread and this one.

If you don’t appear for AP, nothing really is neither for or against you.
But in my case, I already messed up one course which is def going against me, so I’m looking for something that counters it i.e. CLEP, as AP is beyond deadlines :)

Okay. Perhaps you need an expert’s advice. BTW I think you have a chance to prove your abilities if your second semester exam results come out before application. You can override your past first semester GPA with the second one, I hope.

^ Waiting for some expert… :D
