This is the official discussion thread for Loyola University Maryland Class of 2029 applicants. Ask your questions and connect with fellow applicants.
Loyola Maryland is one of my son’s top choices. Very excited to hear!! Fingers crossed.
Is everyone who applied Early Action hearing today? I had thought they didn’t notify until January.
My daughter applied EA and heard today.
same. A nice early surprise!
Same! my son was accepted today! We have not toured yet. Can anyone share insights?
We attended an Open House last fall, & were impressed. It’s a beautiful campus.
Mine did too! Yay!
Thanks- looking forward to the visit. We have family in the area and I have driven but not officially toured.
Is anyone else applying to a program other than Business? My son is interested in the Global Studies program which appears to be very small. It seems almost everything I read is about the Business program which seems to be the most popular. Any experience is appreciated.
Before our tour, I didn’t know much about the school other than that it is Jesuit and has the reputation for having school spirit. I loved everything about it, but I’ll focus on what surprised and stood out to me. First off, friendliest tour I have been on (two kids applying to colleges in the last few years… LOTS of tours up and down the East Coast): they had students meeting us in the parking lot and offering to help! Of course every tour guide everywhere is a fan of the school but this was a deliberate and convincing effort to be warm and welcoming and put visitors at ease.
The campus was picturesque, really lovely. You can see it in the pictures but it is even more charming in person.
I loved that the tour took us by career services and had the person there give us a three-minute intro. They clearly integrate professional preparation into the education, which is GREAT for my very sweet and bright but not very assertive or ambitious kid.
I already assumed that a Jesuit school would have a certain vibe, an emphasis on community service, and a solid liberal arts education. Loved all the rest.
Hello! Son has been accepted and we toured the beautiful campus. Does anyone here have experience with the computer science program? Son is concerned with the strength of the program and the comradery of the students because the department appears so small.
I have a similar question above which is how do kids who are in a smaller program- not business enjoy the school?
My son is deciding between Loyola and Roanoke College. Love any feedback anyone has
Hi there…can anyone share stats and/or merit info. My son is interested for next year as a possible accounting major. Thanks in advance! Looking forward to a fall open house!
My daughter receive her most generous package from them. 3.8, high level athlete, leadership and ec’s all good. Middle class not typically eligible for aid. Between merit and aid she was offered 40k. Went back to them and receive $5k more. In the end she did not accept as it was small for her and she wasnt sure about the safety of the area.
My daughter had a 4.0 unweighted, 4.45 weighted, President of service club, shift manager at a part time job and some other ECs. She received $38,000 and a $2000 need based grant. We were surprised she received the grant. Between my 2 children, Loyola was the only school where we received any aid.
