Hey guys I am an international student and I got admitted to both LSE and UVA. I aim to get into investment banking and hope to work in NYC, however I am having a hard time choosing between the two schools…Any advice please???

One of my colleagues in the Office of Admission is a UVa alumna with a graduate degree from LSE. Perhaps you should attend both schools, as she did. :)

Seriously, though, I don’t think you can make a bad choice with these two options. Both schools have excellent reputations with top banks.

For those who are unfamiliar with the three-letter acronyms:
LSE= London School of Economics (UK)
UVA= University of Virginia at Charlottesville (USA)

LSE is a great school, as is UVA I think if you want to ultimately do banking/consulting in NYC, then go for UVA because it’s a target school. If you want to be in London, then I’d think LSE would make sense.

Hey guys, thanks for the advice…By the way, I was just wondering is admission to McIntire based solely on GPA or are there any other factors taken into consideration?

They look at more than GPA.

From [McIntire Application Process: UVa Students](http://www.commerce.virginia.edu/admissions/undergraduate/Pages/current.aspx)

Grades

* Load per semester
- Difficulty of courses
- Trend in performance
- Grades in prerequisites (accounting, economics, math)

Extracurricular Activities

- Work experiences

Congratulations on your acceptances! I wanted to apply to LSE too but it wasn’t going to work out.

Since you want to work in New York, I would recommend UVA. Many recruiting companies that that hire McIntire graduates have headquarters in NYC so you’ll have more opportunities here. Plus, I think it’ll be easier to get internships near or in NYC in America.

Have you visited both campuses? UVA is gorgeous and you’ll definitely get a college experience on campus. When I was considering LSE, some students complained about how small the campus is and how impersonal the school feels. Just saying.
