why didn’t I get accepted to CAS :(

^^I’m shocked as well! I guess the applicant pool this year was bigger and stronger than ever.

So, I thought my daughter was nearly a slam dunk into NYU (2210 SAT, 780/750 SAT IIs, 34 ACT…BUT - lower GPA than any of the 3 on this thread!..provided you’re giving your unweighted GPA).

Guess I’d better think again!!! I was actually hoping she’d get honors. Now I’m thinking she might even be in the reject pile.

Anyway - congrats to y’all for getting in. I don’t even understand how you can decide in 3 weeks when most decisions aren’t out until 4/1.

Are you getting financial aid packages this early, along with your offer?

^ your daughter would not be rejected for those stats. acceptances come out in march-april. so your daughter has a chance of getting accepted into CAS or Stern if that’s where she applied. and no, we don’t get our financial aid packages this early, we would have to wait till april for the real deal. And decisions do not have to made in three weeks, we can wait till we get our financial package.

My son was accepted ED into the liberal studies program this past november. The university wants you tell them in three weeks if you plan on attending. Then the school sends the applicant an official offer with the purple folder and congrats along with other booklets about the program and admitted students day information. Which is very informative. My son went to the one in december and it answered all questions and concerns about this program… You actually have 3 weeks from the time the official purple folder comes and you need to send in your deposit at that time. So it ended up being 6 weeks to think about it. Remember its three weeks from the date on the letter, not the date you actually received the letter.

If you’re in LSP you don’t have to accept the offer to go to NYU until the same deadline as all of th other students. The RSVP is simply because you didn’t technically apply to LSP and they’re making you an offer. If you accept it they send you your official packet and then you have until the deadline in April to decide whether you want to go.

Hey guys! i just got an email saying i wasnt admitted to CAS but LSP instead! The thing is i am more of a math person and dont enjoy subjects like literature! i am hard working but hardly read or anything, How difficult will it be for me to these courses? Also i got accepted to UT austin for Economics! So the final question. Is it worth spending a year in London/Paris/Italy and doing courses you dont enjoy thouroughly to get into NYU or should i just go to UT since it is a good college too and i get to choose my subjects?

@zoya1991 - Don’t worry, the LSP classes are pretty easy so you shouldn’t have much trouble (but it is a ton of reading). I’m a science major and didn’t enjoy them that much, but I was only in lsp for a year and took fewer classes. Also, i’m pretty sure you get to choose where you go freshmen year; they give you the option of london/paris/italy but you can be in NYC too, right?

you didn’t mention finances but if you’re in-state at UT then i would go there, unless it’s easy for you to afford NYU or they give you a scholarship. for me, the 8 lsp classes i had to take were worth it because i wanted to be at NYU - in CAS i would’ve had to take 6 map classes anyway, so it wasn’t a big difference. You have to decide if it’s worth it for you or not.

ACCEPTED TO LSP
(Originally applied to Tisch Film)

GPA: UW 3.3/W 3.35
SAT 1: 1730
SAT 2: mid 500’s on both Math and History

I’m just wondering. Have any LSPed applicants received the “email”?

Yeah. I received that email.

If one decides to go for LSP, how long does it take to finish college? Is it two years of LSP + four years at, say, CAS (total six years), or two years of LSP + two years at the desired school (CAS, Tisch, etc.) (total four years)?

Thanks!

^ No, it’s 4 years total lol. You can even graduate a semester or two early depending on your major.
LSP is about 8-11 classes depending on what program you’re in. It’s not like 2 years of just LSP classes - you have 2 years to finish those classes, but you also take classes for your major or electives in CAS and other schools during that time.
