LSU Admissions for Fall 2024

My daughter just received her decision yesterday evening, also admitted - OOS. She applied Oct 22nd.

I’m now wondering when merit typically comes out. Is it with the acceptance packet or does it come later in Q1? Anyone know the answer?

I’m wondering about merit too. My son was accepted mid-October and we’ve only received the admit letter so far. Also, no mention of if he will get his chosen major yet. I think I read in previous years that merit letters came in December, before break.

I saw my S24’s major in his MyLSU account. Try there.

Did you submit the enrollment deposit first? When I look at the checklist, it says he cannot create a MYLSU account until he submits enrollment deposit. But he won’t want to enroll unless he gets his choice of major. Hmmm… he will have to email the admission counselor again if he decides LSU will be his top choice. Thanks.

Did you just log on with the link included in the sent after you submitted the app?
And was the decision obvious or hard to find? Thanks!

In the portal there was a section called “Status Update” and underneath that was a “View Decision” link.

My S24 received his acceptance a couple weeks ago. Tonight he just received notification that he received a $52,000 scholarship over 4 years.

Same! What a nice email notification to get right after the UTK debacle. Definitely helps (well maybe for us parents more than my son haha).

Congratulations! Same, daughter’s was a little more but it was a nice shot in the arm. LSU is under ranked in my opinion. Just as good if not better in some programs as the other SEC schools with the exception of UF and Vandy.

UTK is a mess, and frankly, is not worth the fuss in my opinion. Have no clue why it is so popular right now, along with USC, Clemson, and Auburn. I mean of course I know why (great sports, solid academics, weather, etc.) but Arkansas, LSU, Mizzou, KU, and many others check the exact same boxes.

My daughter received her initial merit award via email last night, hopefully yours did too!

During our LSU tour we were told we could submit a housing deposit once accepted and could do this before we committed to LSU. Now it looks like we can’t request housing or do anything until we commit. We sent an email to the admissions rep last week and are still waiting for a response. Does anyone know about this? I am hoping for a workaround.

No. He was able to see that info first when he created the MyLSU account.

We did ultimately pay the enrollment deposit and $150 housing deposit so that he would get his choice of dorms.

When you pay the enrollment deposit are you commiting to LSU? It’s my daughters top choice but we want to wait to see what is offered from her other schools first.

I read in last forum that after you pay the enrollment deposit and your housing deposit, then you would be able to get your place in the housing line.

You can always not enroll, but you would lose the enrollment deposit. We were willing to pay this to get him the dorm he wanted (really to make sure he did not get the dorm I read that was not great (Herget) lol).

Thanks! We may do that too. It just feels weird to commit when we need a little more time. I definitely want to put that housing deposit down though. It’s pretty much down to LSU and one other school but she prefers LSU anyway. I’m excited for her to start school but I’ll miss her since she will be over 5 hours away. Sigh!

Congrats!

Any OOS’ers who applied EA in October and haven’t heard anything yet?

It is considered unethical for many reasons to put down an enrollment deposit if not sure you are enrolling. It’s called double depositing and it’s not fair to the other students waiting to be accepted or to the college. The only time this is considered ok is if you are on a waitlist somewhere else and you enroll to ensure a place in case that waitlist does not become an admit.
