D just heard yesterday and she submitted in August.
Yeah, i’m still waiting on a decision.
OOS, S24 applied during the week of October 9th. Still awaiting a decision. Very strange.
Yes, I started this forum because they were so slow!
Has anyone heard that you may receive more scholarship money if you don’t accept admission right away? I heard that as students decline and the school has more money, it may go to students who haven’t accepted yet. It’s something I have heard, and may or may not be true for LSU.
Still have not heard anything. My student also emailed the assigned admissions counselor in regards to this semester’s grades (4.0) and asked if it is best to self report the grades or send in transcript when it becomes available. Still no reply to the email.
I’m quite disappointed in the way LSU handles admissions. It wasn’t like this when I attended LSU.
My oldest didn’t accept right away and LSU didn’t give him a single dime w/ a 3.9 GPA, honors grad, AP classes and only received 4’s and 5’s on his AP exams, class President for 3 years, 150+ volunteer hours, two sport Varsity letterman, leadership council, baseball captain, etc. He was also a highly decorated Texas 5A punter. He wanted to play football so he went to another school to play but had LSU offered him academic money- he would have just tried to walk on at LSU.
Thanks for the information! He sounds like someone they would have wanted! I hope all has gone well at the school he chose!
I agree that compared to other colleges, their admissions process has been a bit disappointing
Definitely leaves a sour taste.
There was a similar lack of rhyme & reason in last year’s admissions cycle. I’m thinking they just review “buckets” of applicants at a time or assigned to review teams w/ some being quicker than others. My kid is a solid student but not as strong as some of the others waiting so they’ll get in and likely get good merit money but it’ll come once the holiday break is over.
OOS applied week of Oct 9th. Still waiting.
I have identical twins OOS. Both applied mid October, but one had letter of recs that lagged until end of October. First one admitted early November, second one admitted mid-December with $15,000 per year. No money so far for the one that was admitted first, so who knows how they decide and when.
Daughter applied in September and submitted final needed document in mid-October. Didn’t hear anything for about 2 months.
Called admissions mid-December to ask if anything else was needed or if they had estimated timing on decisions. (Coincidently?) got acceptance four days later. Merit scholarship notification about a week after that.
Similar experience. My daughter emailed her admissions person and then next day received email with acceptance. We are still waiting for anything to arrive in the mail - acceptance letter or merit and it’s been about 3 1/2 weeks. We are in NJ so wondering if the holiday and snail mail are at play here.
My son applied OOS on Jan 2 and we already received his acceptance today. Does anyone know when we will hear about merit?
My daughter was accepted on 12/6 and received a merit award. She was awarded the Tiger Excellance award in the amount of $15k. We are oos in Florida.
was the merit in her acceptance letter?
I just read online that once accepted you will get a myLSU login . Once you have login you can see merit undr financial aid tab.
No, it was not in the acceptance letter. We received an email from LSU Scholarships on 12/19/23, went to my daughter’s LSU email and to the parent emails on file.
