Lol listen hun. Lums goes with the slogan #MeritMatters. And if that slogan is somewhat correct than i must tell you that I should get into lums somehow this year in business school but i have no hope for it. Lums took that student in because he was a hindu. I dont want to sound racist but thats the truth. Also personal statement and extracurriculars dont count towards merit because in one of their SAT workshops i watched online they said that extra curriculars dont matter.
LUMS says merit matters but they dont say thats all matters. Personal statement and extracurricular activities adds up to your application. Sometimes an applicant is better at everything but somehow lost score in SAT due to not preparing well enough or even not knowing the language. English is not a first language for alot of students in Pakistan so they can’t really expect him or her to get a high score in English section. And it’s actually unfair and they deserve to have a chance. You work hard and prove yourself through different areas and that’s where personal statements and your extra curricular comes in. You prove u have potential.
Well I’m not really sure either how their admission office works so whatever I said is something i assume they do and honestly it should actually be like this. Getting exceptional scores is great thing but if one isnt that doesn’t prove he is somehow less than someone else. And also all the students here if you guys do get rejected ( InshAllah it wont happen) but if it does just make sure you guys know that its not the end of world and it doesnt means you cant be sucessful in life. You never know you might be more successful than any other graduate from LUMS. What ever happens in life happens for a reason your job is to work hard as much as you can and rest the Allah decides whats the best. Just never lose hope! Sorry for such long paragraphs ??
@haseeb62 no if you take accelerated subjects like math or accounting or even urdu its possible. i have a friend who got an A* in Alevel math and she is in A2 now.

listen I disagree with you respectfully . Hows it possible to differentiate 2 closely related candidates through this method. Top 50 unis in the world use this method of evaluation where a team sits and decides whether to select a candidate or not but those university clearly say it out . MERIT ISNT THE ONLY THING WHICH WILL GET YOU INTO TOP 20 UNIVERSITIES. Let me clear my point here if 2 students come with almost the same credentials and one is from Lahore with a higher SAT score and other is from multan with a Lower SAT score . the student from multan gets admission and the student from Lahore suffers. Its basically #DIVERSITYOVERMERIT .

Those in the admission are seasoned people and we should put our trust in them to make the right decisions.
Also, @geezz44 writing a personal statement isn’t considered an extracurricular activity when two students whose grades are on par with each other that’s where the personal statement comes in who is more enthusiastic about the desired course and why should he be selected they’d definitely prefer the underprivileged student over the one who’s from a more privileged household. The underprivileged student got grades almost as good as the privileged ones that means he worked harder than the latter despite being at a disadvantage he’d always be preferred for admission.

Lol @IjazSahab so you are saying that underprivileged over privileged right. This is called biasism . Because they dont have a definite merit criteria its literally impossible to determine out of two students which student to accept. they would go for diversity which means something which doesnt follow merit. this is something racial biasism.
Ps: How can the admission committee be sure that someone is underprivileged. I think all of you should take a glimpse of how the admission decision works.

also last year one of my friend got admission on 9th april . I know people got admissions in march also but those were who had 1500+ in SAT . So i am pretty sure that admissions are gonna be out tomorrow.
