Okay so for all the people who are asking what they should bring and what they should not. Here are some instructions from my experience as a hostelite.
CLOTHING:
First and foremost. Bring your SUMMER clothes. DO NOT even think about bringing your winter clothes. For non- Lahoris out there. The first few months that you spend there will be a bit of a challenge because of the heat but it becomes bearable. As for you winter clothes, you can bring em on later when you go back home before the winters (please do go home every 5 weeks or so, it does your mental health a lot of good) and trade your summer wardrobe for a winter wardrobe.
GUYS BRING AT LEAST ONE SUIT AT ALL COSTS. Do keep formal clothing for presentations. Formal shoes are also a must. Don’t wear your loafers with your suit. It just looks untasteful.
Even though there is no need to mention this, but you should be bringing essential clothing items such as shoes, socks, ties, undershirts, cufflinks and belts e.t.c. It doesn’t make any sense if you buy all of this stuff from Lahore because you already have this.
Do bring sportswear, you might need it.
Clothing is pretty much all you need to bring with you. Bringing miscellaneous items like perfumes, toiletries, towels, makeup, room sprays, insect repellent, nail cutters e.t.c from home is up to you.
MISCELLANEOUS:
You will also need a BAG for your books or just whenever you want to carry random stuff.
It’s also entirely up to you if you bring electronics like a Laptops (HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS), speakers, your PC, a console. I recommend bringing those because at some point you eventually will.
A FRIDGE will be your best friend. You can get by without one but it helps to have one in your room. There are two fridges on every floor pantry.
ESSENTIALS:
There are a lot of places to shop for the items below like HYPERSTAR but I prefer METRO near BHATTA CHOWK because its much much closer to LUMS (if you don’t have a car, careem or uber won’t charge much for this).
Now coming to the things I feel like you should get for you dorm room from these places when you get to LUMS are:
- At least 2 Bedsheets
- 2 Pillows
- A table cloth
- A summer throw or fleece
- Hangers
- A Broom
- An Electric Kettle (trust me you will need this)
- A Laundry bag
- Crockery (you will need plates and mugs (for chai of course))
- Scissors and tapes
- Adhesive hooks (Please don’t your throw your clothes everywhere, your roommate will hate you for this)
- A water flask (you can fill it up from the pantry on your floor)
- Loads of Tissues and Paper towels
A MATTRESS is essential if you want to sleep in the common room where there are Air Conditioners. I never used my foldable mattress (Was never comfortable sleeping in room full of people but you might be) but it doesn’t hurt to have one.
No need stock up your room with Medicine (there is a pretty good pharmacy on campus) or food (your friends will probably end up eating all of it but do keep snacks for midnight)
DECORATIONS:
Another thing that I consider essential is DECORATING your room. It makes sure that it becomes your very own personal space and it is good for your mental health. You may agree or may not.
There is a kiosk by the name of Instaprint (not sure) on campus that can print Posters or pictures or anything you would like for you (for a cost of course)
For other decorations. You can visit HAROONS’ in Y/Z-Block or the one at Gaddafi Stadium (my favourite). They usually have wall stickers, paintings, lights, throw pillows, decorative show pieces, miscellaneous art items e.t.c.
You can also find normal fairy lights from an electric store in T block (walking distance from LUMS).
Also keeping a RUG in your room will make it pop and make your life much easier because you can just be barefoot in your room then and makes for extra seating space.
I am not sure if this is the complete guide you wanted but I hope this helps.
You can keep a Night stand if you reposition your bed.

Congrats!I got a revised offer of SDSB too after getting offer of MGHSS
Hey guys! I got into MGSHSS but I picked my major as sociology with history and English. But now that I think about it, I think I should have had chosen the economics stream. Please help if I can get it changed? And do all students at MGHSS study the same in foundation year? How easy or difficult it is to change your major?
@Confuseddd19 your major is declared only after the freshman year so no need to worry about that
Hi guys… This question is kind of for F.Sc students that got into LUMS. How did you send them “Attested” copies of your results? Where did you get them attested from? I sent them my results attested from a government teacher. And all the conditions were met and I have been accepted and assigned a roll no. But now, I just received an email saying I need to send attested copies of my results by 29 June but that date is long past. Can anyone tell me what is going on or if this is gonna result in cancellation of my admission? I am super worried and I messaged LUMS but it is Saturday and I think I probably get an answer by Monday but I am just so anxious right now.
